What are some positives to the death penalty?

It administers the justice decided by the people through the court system. It eliminates the taxpayers responsibility for supporting evil criminals. Imagine, kill someone and go to jail for life, get a free ride with food, medical, gym membership, and no responsibility. Appeals should be limited to one year. Then execution.

2. The cost of keeping an inmate on deathrow for 20+ years, food, housing, policing
3. The other criminals will take notice (if the time on deathrow was shorter)

The death penalty should be used.

It would be a deterrent to others contemplating the same sort of crime.

And other crimes should be paid for with hard labor. i.e. rape, armed robbery, vicious beatings and assault.

If the scum knew they had to actually PAY for what they did, maybe they would think twice.

BUT... If the death penalty is invoked, the Prosecutor better be sure he/she is right. If later, a person is found to have been executed in error... The Prosecutor should take his place.

Death penalty solves out nothing. It doesn't deter criminals from committing major offences. In the USA there is the death Penalty and it doesn't bring down the crime rate, you have way more violent crimes than in Norway that hasn't the death penalty.
Death penalty involves a lot of expenses too, such as keeping inmates.
The only positive aspect is for big criminals such as godfathers from the mafia or other organised crime groups if you bang them up it is useless they will keep doing their business as usual from inside the jail but if you kill them then...............
It is also a good bargaining chip you can guaranty a criminal that he won't be sentenced to death if he accepts to cooperate.
I think death penalty would be useful for guys like Madoff, it would definitely deter white collars criminal from violating the law as they are just greedy people already enjoying a comfortable life unlike a ghetto mad dog who doesn't care to be sentenced to death.

Think about it, if you kill someone because they killed someone else, where is the justice in that? Watching someone die for your own personal justice, Columbine for example, did someone get the death penalty because of it...nope, they committed suicide, why though?

I don't believe in the Electric Chair.. however.. I do believe in the ELECTRIC BLEACHERS... and I say TOAST THAT TRASH... I don't try to understand that rotten vegetable before I throw it out in the trash and I don't try to understand that human garbage on death row.. so I say: TOAST THEM.
