What are some proposed solutions to overpopulation ?

What over-population? Go up in a plane & there's vast stretches of un-utilitized resources down there to be put to use. I'm sure 100 years ago people thought the world was overpopulated too.

My proposed solution has yet to be taken seriously by anyone. I propose sterilization of people chosen by ME. I'd take the time to learn enough about them to make an informed decision. I could probably dole out "sterilized" and "not sterilized" decisions to loads of people on Answers. Like I said though, no one has yet to take me seriously.

There is no solution, sad to say...The # of people has doubled from 4 billion to 8 billion in the last 30 years...Human beings are devouring the planet, and something has got to give. We will have a disease that will devastate our numbers, or all the world history has 2012 as the year the world as we know it will end...Nostrdamus said we will slaughter each other soon, from the middle east a huge war will start. Who knows, but the human race is laying waste to mother earth, and sadly its too late for birth control...Mother nature needs to destroy 3/4 of us in order to survive what we are doing to the planet, and my money is on her!

Many developing countries fail to implement laws and policies aimed at controlling population growth. Blame the West, particularly the United States of America, for blaring unwarranted criticisms on such measures in the name of "human rights", without realising that not implementing such measures would exacerbate overpopulation, which would rob everyone of human rights.

Make abortion legal and give incentive for one child per family. The problem is that if the single child dies parents become helpless therefore they produce more.
