What are the laws on parking across from one's house in Thousand Oaks?

Recently, my boyfriend has been parking my car that he sometimes borrows down the street from his. We do this purely because we don't want his parents to know he's driving my car. The street he parks on is public property, there are no signs limiting my parking, and there are no houses on that side of the road. The person who lives across from where he parks my car complained to me today about my car being parked there. Should I be worried? My car isn't parked there for more than 5 hours at a time and its only 3 times a week from 4 am to about 9 am. It's not like my car is ugly or in bad condition. I drive a Cadillac DeVille.

What are my rights? and should I be worried?

You shouldn't have any legal problems. However, it is irritating when you have company that has to park away from your house because someone you don't know decided to park in front of your house...especially when they could easily have parked in front of the house they are visiting.

If there are no signs stating that someone can't park there, and it's a public street, then the person doesn't have anything to complain about.

You have the right to park on a public street, for sure ... but then again, annoying people have the right to complain, even if they don't have any legal recourse. You have nothing to worry about.

If it is across the street from their house and not obstructing their driveway or anything like that...they have no grounds to complain...they are probably just bitter pissed people that are used to having a clear view of the park or whatever is there.

Once that guy that is complaining steps off his lawn onto the sidewalk...he is in city or county property and can lay no claim to anything going...

If it is a no parking zone...limited parking zone...or something else than he can make a complaint...but I wouldn't worry...he can't do anything legally...he can vandalize your car...but if that happens you know who did it and you can file a police report against him for doing something like that.

I understand his frustration if you were parking directly in front of his house and he parks there all the time....but either way...he has no legal rights.

you don't need to worry because if theres no sign of towing of no parking well you have the right to park there remember its a free country
