What are your thoughts and opinions on smoking bans?

I don't smoke and I don't like the smell of most smoke from cigarettes. Having said that..I believe all this aggression against smokers is just to condition the people into snitching each other off, the divide and conquer thing..Example..in California..there was a series of public service announcements concerning smoking cars..The ad went something like this.."If you see a smoking car..call this number..the driver might not know his car is smoking..we can help..." The following year's ad..."See that piece of junk..it's damaging the environment.. get that junk off the road!" So, I would rather put up with a bit of smoke and live in a free society than be smoke free in Nazi Germany..(apologies to the Germans..)..Another thing..many questions such as yours are posted by employees of certain companies trying to gauge public opinion..Are you one of those or are you a "real" person..Please email me.

I think it should be the restaurant, bar, or whatever else's decision to make it non-smoking or smoking. I understand there are non-smokers that don't like smoke, and I respect that. I just think the smokers should get the same respect as the non-smokers do. Smoking IS legal, it's not fair to ban it if you're going to sell it.

First let me say, I am a smoker. But I agree with the smoking ban to a certain degree. Public buildings, restaurants, or any place children might be, I think it's a good idea. But when it comes to pubs or bars where only adults are, I think I should be able to light up.

I think people should have the freedom to smoke where they want, as long as its not affecting the health of someone in an area where they cannot help it.

If smoking were a matter of affecting only the smoker, I would say no bans. But it is a health risk for anyone who breathes the second hand smoke. Therefore, I'm for the bans. I am a former smoker with serious respiratory problems due to it.

Because second hand smoke has been linked to health problems, I think the bans are justified. The reason I have chosen not to smoke is because of the associated health risks.

I am a non smoker, but I think that the smoking bans have gotten crazy. In Philadelphia, you can be fined $300.00 if you are smoking on the street corner waiting for a bus! The idea that if you go to a bar or resturant you can not smoke in New York. What happened to personal choice? Yes, I understand there are "second hand smoke" risks, but, if I walk into a bar that is too smoke filled for me, I go elsewhere, I do not file a lawsuit to force that bar to end smoking. Just like you can leave somewhere if you dont like the food, prices, ect, you can leave if the smoke is too much for you as well.

i dont even smoke and i think they are getting a little out of control.I live in jersey by the casinos and they passed it already in a few but i still see people doing it so i dont know!!!
I guess it really doesnt matter to me as long as they arent blowing it right in my face im ok.my parents and most of my friends do it.

If smokers enjoy smoking so much and its legal and all whats with the filter. I mean how come they get the protection and I get to breath the crap from the other end. and if its all good why do they need a filter.

And one more thing do you really think smoke knows where the non-smoking section is.

Just cause you've chosen to make yourself chemical dependent dont mean i should have to deal with it thats on you.It would be like if someone is drinking next to me that all of a sudden there gonna hold me down and pour a beer down my throat.

I don't smoke, but I didn't have a problem when there were separate smoking sections in restaurants.

I think it's ridiculous to ban smoking outside, except for right at entrances/exits to buildings.

Here in Philly, there are "no smoking zones" in front of office buildings, but smokers stand right there, and you have to walk through their smoke to get in or out of the building. That's wrong, I hate that.

There are still places that allow smoking inside, even though they're not supposed to. It only bothers me when I'm trying to eat.

I think its stupid people that dont want to be around smokers should go where others dont smoke people that do want to be around smokers normally go where smokers are i say that places, as in resturaunts or hangouts etc, should be able to choose if they want smoking or not then if smokers are there then cool and if non smokers dont want to go there then cool too

I think smoking should be limited to clubs and bars,
so all the nicotine addicts can get a rush
off each others cancer sticks, and blow rings
in the air, and catch them on their stained tongues.
