What can I do about harassing phone calls?

For the past few months I have been receiving harassing phone calls and I don't know what to do.

Whomever it is they call my mobile phone every hour at least once from an "Unavailable" (not a "Restricted") phone number. They let the phone ring once and then hang up. When the call comes from an "Unavailable" number I never get to speak to anyone. Then sometimes, like once every few days, I get a call from a number that shows up as "000-000-0001". When I do pick up the phone they say the are looking for someone named "Dorian Lourde". My name is not Dorian Lourde, nor do I know anyone by that name. I tell them my name is not Dorian Lourde and then they ask if I know where to find him. I tell them I don't, but THEN they usually get snarky with me and tell me they will keep calling until I tell them how to reach him.

They never identify themselves, they ask for "Dorian Lourde" and when I say I am not him they ask me if I know where to find him. When I say I don't they say they will just keep calling until I tell them where to find him. Then they hang up.

I CAN NOT change my mobile phone number. I own a very prosperous business and doing that would cause me to lose a lot of business. I have had this phone number for OVER 10 years now.

I really don't know what to do, but it is really irritating me.

I know that on verizon you can block certain numbers, I would check into that...if its a creditor they have no morals or ethics and they DO NOT CARE who they are bothering. it's awful. I would call your phone company or flip sh*t on them next time they call and tell them you are not dorian maybe they will get tired of hearing you yell!!! good luck :)

If you report this to your mobile phone company they can trace the calls and block the number, and sometimes even prosecute through the police for harassment. There should be an option for nuisance calls on the menu when you call them.

call your cell phone provider and tell them you are getting harassing phone calls from that number and tell them they need to block numbers. tehy should be able to help you

Call your cellular carrier and ask to be put through to, or given the number for, the security department. They can handle it (by giving you a number to dial immediately after getting these calls so they can trace them and block them). (Harassing calls, if you're in the US, are a federal felony.)

Whatever you do, don't harass them back or threaten them. That would be illegal.

your cell phone provider should help you and if anything get another phone and keep this one as well and don't pick up from unavailable or that other weird number

I would report it to your phone provider (ask for the security department) and to the local police (call their non-emergency number, not 911). While your caller ID won't show an "unavailable" number, if the call was made it can be traced back to its original location.

The "Do Not Call" or "No Solicitation" list will not help in this situation since those only prohibit commercial solicitation (i.e. salespeople) from calling. This sounds like a private citizen who has you confused with someone else (perhaps due to a misread phone number) or someone who is just being a nuisance.

No one should have to live with harassment and remedies are available through the courts if nothing else. However, your first task is to contact the police and phone provider and find out the phone number and/or name of the person contacting you. Unless you can find some identifying information, you won't be able to take action against this individual.

You could try going to the police about it, or see if you can block that number calling. To screw with them back, tell them Dorian moved to Wachita, Texas.

call your mobile provider and see if they're able to restrict or block calls from that number.

maybe you should get the police involved..and try scaring the person by saying that you'll get the police involved if they dont stop calling...something along those lines may work..idk though

Dude same thing happendto me. but the number was restricted.
I didnt do anything about it they just stopped calling.
But if I were you I would tell your phone company and then get the police invovled

Well you can try putting your number on the do not solicit list. You can also call up your service provider and have them block the 0001 number. if you want you can also have them block any unavailable or resricted numbers but then you may also be blocking clients.

One other rather comical option would be to give them a fake number and say it is dorian's. Of course they might call back. Try to get a name of who is calling from these people.

A rather drastic option which you should also take is calling the police. They can listen in on your phone call and try to at least track down the people using their devices. This is by far the best option, but if you do not wish to go this far, the other options might help

they want to know where to find this guy huh. so tell them, every time they ask just say hes at some bar right now in Utah or something. you can even give them a fake address or say a fake name. gee i wish someone was doing that to me the possibilities are endless to mess with them right back.

First, I think you should go to a local police station and ask if a person named Dorian Lourde is missing. Then tell them about the phone calls you have been receiving. They will be able to find out the number and the person doing it. Case Closed.
