The company isn't really responsible, but the police complaint should take care of the man, and his sister should be fired (if she wasn't already for the theft). |

Press charges on the guy that hit you. You should sue the company for not keeping you protected at work. |

if you had any injuries make sure they are documented.
I am not sure if your company will get personally involved unless the man tries to sue the company it's self, but at the very least you should file charges on the man.
You might even want to see if OCSHA has any advice since you were injured at work. they may have rules regarding that.
It is a very good thing you did not hit the man back, but in my personal experience unless the company has something to lose they wont do much to back you during an incident like that.
Make sure the police see any security tapes that might show the incident.
Best of Luck |

Don't do anything illegal yourself and become a criminal of the law! If the police were involved then you should be able to press charges against him if you want. As far as the place of employment is concerned you can address management with the issue and tell them that this is grounds for that person to be relieved of there position of employment. Send me an email |

I'm assuming the girl has been suspended if not she should be, but there is not anything you can do until the police have completed their inquiries..except give a written report of the incident to your employer |

First call the cops have the brother charged with assault, at the same time tell your boss you were assaulted by the coworker's brother , and that you caught your coworker stealing.
I don't know what country you are in, but if your boss doesn't do anything , take it to store chain's human resources deptartment and if they don't do anything report it to your ministry of labour as workplace bullying. |

Well the company are in one way resposnible. As they are responsible for your welfare, safety and well being in the work-place.
You would have to decide which way you want to go about this, whether to file a complaint against the girls brother for assault, or with the company's failure to safeguard your safety.
Either way I would take the complaint as far as you can go. |

you should look in their employee handbook on what action should be taken involving this incident.
That will also explain if your rights are being violated. |
