Texas was earned through blood, sweat and tears on the battlefeild, where most land borders are determined.
If Mexico wants it back, come try and take it! Punk! |

Texas once belonged to Mexico, which once belonged to Spain. Before that it was just another border-less Indian territory. |

It wasn't stolen from any country; indigenous people lived there about 12,000 years ago.
Spain, France, the U.S., and Mexico have all staked claims against the land at different times. |

None. Texas used to be part of Mexico. There was a war. The Texans won and later became a part of the United States. |

None. Due to their incompetent army, Mexico lost Texas in a war. |

It wasn't stolen from any country. The Texicans both anglo and hispanic got sick of the dictators and idiots running Mexico and decided to declare their freedom. A war was fought and the Texicans won. Later on the Texicans asked for and was granted the right to become a state of the growing United States. |

California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas were once a part of Mexico. But Mexico couldn't get enough mexicans to immigrate there (hard to believe now) and--and this is important--could not govern it. For California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas to become a part of the U.S. was the best thing that could've happened for all concerned.
If those four states had remained a part of Mexico exactly *what* would Mexico have done with them? Used them to breed another one-hundred-million illiterate peasants? Who would've swamped what was left of the United States? To what end?
Military power is a bi-product of economic power. If those four states hadn't become a part of the U.S. then America probably wouldn't have been strong enough to defeat fascism & communism in the 20th century. |
