is it their fault they were bamboozled by greedy immoral and unethical loan officials, should the victim be accused of being the criminal?i don't know if you are aware that bankes and other loaning institutions have regular think tanks that figure out ways to intice people to foolishley barrow more money than they can repay, have you ever heard of barrowers having a think tank that figures out what all that fine print on contracts actualy meens?does a person need to have a lawyer in toe with them at all times to deciper any contract they might have to sign?its always been my experiance that the finer the print the crockeder the contract is,also the more paragraphs is an indication or being bush whacked at some future time, why isn't there a standard that contracts must meet, written in plain language that the commom person can understand?meen while the government is giving the same banks that are evicting people the money to keep there greedy practices alive and thriving, feasting off tax payers sweat and blood.would they do the same if the situation were reversed? Additional Details i didn't mention i have owned my home for 30 years, also i didn't graduate from spelling B school or politically correct collage, but i bet a lot of the people who answer in such a pompous way owe credit card comp.thousands of dollars,so i guess you arnt as brite as you would like to shine

Both sides are to blame, the greedy bankers for pushing things too far, and the humble homeowner who did not make sure that they could afford the house, even if the economy took a down turn. It sure is a mess...maybe if things were in more simple terms this would never have happened |

I think it's too bad. I think that it shouldn't take a lawyer to tell you that if you make 50K a year you can't afford a house that costs 350K.
Your spelling is pitiful and helps to explain your 'the man is out to get me' mentality.
I do not own a credit card. I owe three thousand dollars on my car, and I am working through college with no debt. |

I think if adults sign contracts they should understand what they are signing. If they sign legal documents without a lawyer they are foolish.
Why should we, the taxpayers bail out the stupid people who don't understand what they are doing? |

First rule of maturity. Be responsible for your own choices in life. The banks never forced them to take the money. They voluntarily applied for it and received it. |

interesting how you use the word evict........so you want to buy a house..you say i can build equity in a home and pay less for a mortgage than i pay for rent....you get evicted......you lost your home and all that equity.......you otherwise never would have had in the first place......but you spent 2 thousand dollars less .....when you took a home equity loan did you buy another toy or did you buy a tax free municipal bond that paid a higher rate than the loan; that you can take a tax deduction on???? 10 points please |

I think all people know if they are smart enough to understand that they DON'T understand what they are reading, so if they go ahead and sign papers they don't understand I think they are trying to get a lot that they know they can't pay for, but I also think some one was telling them it would be okay, like ( acorn ) |

Wow that was confusing. Learn to spell if you're going to rang btw, you'll seem less of an idiot. These people that are being evicted or foreclosed on brought this upon themselves. If you can't make rent or mortgage payments why should my tax dollars go into saving your irresponsible ***?? Don't buy a house if u can't afford it. One word...duh! |

they should have given every person in the country a million dollars to spend however they wanted to instead of rewarding the hogs at the trough with 700 trillion.

While I don't condone the practices of most banks by loaning people much more money than they can afford to pay, I do have to question the responsibility of the people themselves.
I often wonder why people feel the need to purchase items that they can't afford, to do what? Impress the neighbors with their large homes and new cars? I do partially blame the people themselves. So, I wonder, who really are the greedy ones here? Is it really the banks being greedy and taking advantage of people who would sell their soul in order to live in a large house they can't afford? Or, is it the people who are irresponsible enough to get a mortgage that they know they cannot afford? |

If you can't understand the "fine print" in ANY contract, then yes, you should have it looked over by an attorney. Especially a contract that obligates one to repay several hundred thousand dollars, if not millions. I don't completely agree with the banking practices of the mortgage industry, but you can't take away the fact that people made stupid decisions, and lost out big in the end. I give it a 50/50. Glad it didn't happen to me. |

do not like to see people evicted from their homes but i am also sure that they knew the basics which got them evicted like how much down payment and how much monthly payment. if they got evicted because they couldn't make the payments they should have known that in the beginning |

both the creditor and the applicant are at blame. but considering the applicant was applyig for a PREDATORY loan (the real sub-prime loan's name)..I guess its more their fault. |

Something needs to be done and quickly. There are too many cases in which defenseless children and elderly are left out in the streets and it's dangerous. Obama has already taken action to prevent more of these cases from happening, but i fear that his solution may not be fast enough for the rates at which these occurrences take place. |
