I do, too - but they think they are a special class of people who don't have to abide by the law. |

I feel attempted murder was a little harsh. Assualt and Battery is what I feel they should have been charged with.
I'm probably the only white man to feel this way, though. |

Sounds good to me. |

I agree with you, they did the crime and they should have to pay for it. Would everyone rally if it was an Asian or Hispanic or White.........I don't think so. |

I live in Baton Rouge, and the farthest away from raciest.
But if it were flipped around and 6 white guys beat the hell out of a black guy. It would have still been called raciest, but the white people would still be in jail. I do believe they should all get a good punishment. |

If they were to be charged with attempted murder there would need to be some proof of intent to commit murder. A fight in a school yard doesn't constitute that intent.
A charge of common assault would have been more appropriate. |

They got what that deserved, I think.... I just wonder if the incident 3 mos before was the cause. And the kid they wanted out of jail... who had 4 incidents before.
Its sad... you black... you innocent |

i think that regardless of race, you should be prosecuted for hospitalizing someone.
and regarding the person who said "we all know what would happen if they were white"
see the duke lacrosse case. |

I think most of the people who have a problem with Mychal Bell's incarciration don't have, or aren't interested in the facts, and are only interested in whining about a so called injustice. Like the FACT that he was already on probation when the assault took place. Like the FACT that no black people responded to Jury summonses. Like the FACT that he had a black public defender - who didn't offer a defense, or have any witnesses. Like the FACT that the victim, Justin Barker had nothing to do with the original noose incident - as determined by a black US Attorney, Don Washington. He was cold-****** from behind, knocked unconscious and stomped by six black athletes.
The bottom line should be innocence or guilt. If a person assaulted another person, he or she should be punished accordingly.
That being said, the students responsible for hanging the nooses should have been punished more severely, but that is no excuse for attacking someone.
I also don't believe that Bell should be charged w/ attempted murder. |

Why is it when one of them does something wrong it becomes high profile and a major demonstration soon follows?
Are they NEVER accountable for their actions? They DID beat a kid nearly to death. What is the reason for the protest? OJ kills his wife, gets off, and they dance in the streets. Vick commits animal cruelty and they compare it to deer hunting.
I don't get it.
EDIT: Yes, I do get it. Jessie and Al Sharpton made this case high profile so they could go to Louisiana and make the case for racism. If racism goes away they lose their lifetime career and nobody ever hears from Al or Jessie ever again. Racism is a business. |

If no one was murdered no murder charges should be given. know that God knows what and who is right and wrong and he will have to last say so. It good to know that we as people can come together and rally for what we believe in. |

I think it's appalling that these civil right activists are marching for 6 convicted felons. The white kid had nothing to do with the nooses being hung. Yet he was beaten to a pulp. I don't think they are taking into consideration how he might feel watching them march for the guys that did this to him. If you ask me, the people marching are the RACISTS!!!!! I guess after this, they'll all be marching to Las Vegas for the O.J. trial part II. |

Yeah, pretty much.
If this were a white-on-white or black-on-black incident we never would have heard about it.
They did however come up three nooses short of what they needed. Probably an indictment of the public schools in Jena. |

I agree with you. This an open and shut case. Six kids beat up on one other kid and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Race should NOT be a factor here.
What the other white kids did with hanging the nooses was a stupid thing to do, but no laws were broken. I don't agree with what they did, but again they did not break any laws so there is no grounds to prosecute them. |

i work with Law enforcement and was in Jena yesterday and I'll tell ya try putting 20,000 people in a town that's only held 3,000 before and you have a mad house on your hands. and by the way darkwolf there really is no "assault and battery" that's a contradiction and just for TV assault = attacking without a weapon. battery = attacking with a weapon |

Do you even know the whole story? I'll just say this, everyone knows that Whites get "special" treatment when it comes to the Justice System......my favorite one is in the same county a white girl burns her family's house down and she gets probation, while a black girl pushes a teachers aide and gets 2 yrs.....true ****** story...we could go on all day with examples, but you'll never know how bad it is until you get put in a situation of being the minority. That kid talkin **** got what he deserved, plain and simple. |
