Seeing as the only people who seem to use it are black it'll be interesting to see how this pans out. |

I think it's stupid. You can't ban words. Also it just makes the word more popular, much like rap music has done. |

Professor Sheed

I don't think they can enforce it as it impedes on free speech. |

It's Unconstitutional!

It would be pretty hard to ban a word |

It will solve everything. People will be holding hands dancing in the streets. Hatred and racism will be a thing of the past. We'll all be living in tubes, eating space food sticks and Tang, driving atomic cars and wearing aluminum suits. |

silly.....as if that's going stop the problems. Typical lala land stuff. |

I think it is a violation of free speech. I don't like the word, along with a lot of others that I also would not ban, because any violation of free speech is in dangerous territory. |

And how do they plan to stop, the people who use the "N" word so much, that it has become part of their sub-culture? |
|

halo3

its just going to make people say it more
like all the other things they banned |

its kind of weird, and i really dont think it can be enforced. |

I think it's going to be impossible to enforce - and oddly enough, especially in the ghetto areas.
I doubt if anyone has thought that far ahead - they're just passing a feel-good, sounds-good ordinance.
Using any term that denegrates a person is not acceptable - but making it a matter of law just isn't sensible. What's next? Some other ethnic term, or ***** or brat? |

I say good luck on that one, but it is good to let people know that they need to be careful about what comes out of there mouths. |

carrieluvsredsox

how in the world would they enforce that? what are they going to have a person that goes around with a book of tickets waiting to hear someone say that word and than hand them a ticket?!? |
|

spiritwalker

yeah since they call each other that. what happened to freedom of speech?
How do we stop they from calling the whites names? We can't.
This is a one way street. |

That's stupid.
Sure, it's really not a nice word, but banning it would be disregarding freedom of speech. |

They should ban A-T and V-Z and all that's left is U! |

Randy Newman said it best "I love L.A.".
I've found that a short, sharp slap to the back of the head works best at discouraging the use of the "N" word.

I wonder if they will enforce it to the gansta that use that word to greet each other or if that only goes for non-african americans. It will be interesting to see |

Banning words does nothing to address the attitudes of the people who use them. There is also the paradox of the minority group itself claiming ownership of the derogatory word and using it in a non-derogatory context. LA has tried to negate this paradox by banning everybody from using it. People will, no doubt, object to having their right to free expression curtailed - but with that freedom should come responsibility to avoid offending others with negative stereotyping. |

Just another stupi/unenforcable law from liberal retards. California, what did anyone expect. |

You can't ban a word.
It's mostly African Americans who use it anyway so I'm not sure why they find it to be so insulting. |
