What does Conservator of a trust mean?

what is the difference between a conservator and a trustee? what is the role of each? thanks

A trustee is usually someone who is appointed by the testator of a Will to manage a trust set up by the testator after his/her death.

A conservator, on the other hand, is appointed by the court to manage a trust whose beneficiary does not have the legal capacity to do so (eg. if the beneficiary of the trust is a minor, or physically/mentally incompetent under the law).

However, these terms are often used interchangeably. The big difference, in my opinion, is that a trustee acts when a person has died, whereas a conservator acts while a person is alive. And a trustee is appointed by the person who sets up a trust, while a conservator is appointed by the court.
