I mean really? When big drug lords get busted with hundreds or even millions of dollars what do the police/border patrol etc. Do with that money? Does it go to the goverment or federal or just back into anti-drug programs? Help...

Very simply, they use that money in institutions where people arrested are kept. Basically, it is a criminal's money and his/her money is used to feed him/her so tax payers don't have to pay for everything a criminal needs in a jail cell. However, if the money is a counterfeit and were already spent and used in circulation, than it actually does a lot more damage to tax payers than help, because government spends more additional money to root out the sources of that counterfeit money. |

It is used to do such things as buy assets to be used to fight the drug war, fund victim assistance programs, set up drug courts that work with abusers by helping them get treated, rather than punished. |
