What exactly is "reverse racism?"?

What exactly is "reverse racism?"?

Why is it called "reverse racism" when people hate or discriminate against whites people. Isn't hating another race simply racism regardless of what race the haters or the hated are?

that would be where everyone gets in a freenzy over blacks having no rights for ex so they give blacks more priviliges than they give whites- this happened too, blacks could get into college with a 2.0 and become doctors (very scary) but colleges would turn down a white teen with a 3.9 b/c they had to have exactly 100 blacks to every 200 whites....this particular situation was solved by the supreme court.

It should be simply 'racism'. Its an error in a coined phrase, I think.

I believe that is it racism no matter the colour, as long as it is hate of someone because of their race. I think you are right.

True. There is no such thing as reverse racism...there's just racism or not.
People who promote equality by supporting reverse racism, are sending exctly the wrong message. Instead of saying the obvious, that racism is wrong and should be ablished, they are instead saying through their actions, that apparently racism is a good thing and that they want some too.

people always say "racism" when it comes from the white not liking the black
maybe the reverse of it is black not liking white?

You know...that is a really good question. Reverse racism has nothing to do with directly white people though, but the intuition that someone is going to treat you a certain way because of your color, so you act as if...when in fact, that never was the case. say wha? lol

You're absolutely right. Racism is racism. But, in an environment where racism is generally assumed to be committed by whites against blacks, reverse racism is generally assumed to be racism committed by blacks against whites. In essense, the "reverse" of the general assumption.

Of course, racism is more than a black/white thing. There are many races. I'm using the black/white example just to be able to answer your question without having to list every conceivable example of racism.

ADDENDUM:
As a young boy born in the state of Maine, I had never met a black person. I'm confident black people live there now, but back then (born in 1940) I never saw a black person. Didn't meet one until I joined the US Navy and left home. Later, I moved to the Washington, DC, suburbs and found myself working for a company that employed a large percentage of black people. As I got to know many of them, we formed workplace friendships, and learned much about each other. Those who knew me, knew of my dislike for discrimination, and felt comfortabe around me. So much so, that some (not all) felt free to speak against whites around me. When I questioned one black lady about that, and asked her whether her remarks didn't represent a double standard, she responded that no it didn't because blacks were just fighting back. Had to scratch my head a little on that one, but the source of that line of thinking began to sink in when I was later speaking to another black lady about retirement planning and investments, etc. She listened, and then told me that she knew quite a bit about such things because her pastor often spoke about it at the pulpit. She started to share with me some of her thoughts on the subject, then abruptly stopped, covered her mouth with her hand, looked embarrassed, and said she didn't know whether she was even allowed to talk to me about that. It didn't take me long to figure out that black churches are sometimes used to encourage the distancing of blacks from whites. But in the sense that they should learn as much as they can from whites, but not share anything of value with them in return. I'm of course still not inclined to want to favor discrimination; it just isn't right. But, because of experiences such as those I've described, I realize that there are not only bad white people, but also bad black people (in churches no less) who are making it difficult for an end to racism to be achieved completely anytime soon. Maybe in another life.

Seems to me like Anglophiles or Asiaphiles would qualify. Racism, though no matter who is guilty of it is just plain ignorant.

reverse racism just means...

msicar.... the reverse of racism...

twilight fairy tale
It's a silly and innaccurate term. Racism is racism, no matter who is being descriminated against.

Racism is ignorance, fear and intolerance. However, whites have always taken it to another level...the level of control and primacy, and much of it is nearly unforgivable. Unfortunately, America has done much to incrementally perpetuate acceptable segregation. That many black people harbor discriminatory feelings toward whites is understandable given the abuses they have suffered in the US. No, this doesn't make it any more right or logical, but I do realize that it is largely just conditioning. Black people, unfortunately, have been enslaved for most of their existence, this surely must have taken it's toll.

Personally, I find that hatred is everywhere. I have been hated just as much by white people (I am white). I have been hated on by many blacks also, however, I have met some black people that were more kind and down to earth than any white person I have ever seen. I have done much research on the personalities and rhythmic nature of black people and have discovered that they are very emotional, which makes them easy to manipulate and control. Those who have taken advantage of this throughout history are...sometimes I just can't find the words.

America has never truly ended racism against blacks, it just went covert. There is still much that needs to be done. I despise racism, but I still have a great deal of sympathy for what this nation has brought about in the behaviors of black people. The CIA has been targeting them with the drug trade for a long time, and has been playing them like a harp for decades and it is extremely unfair. If you were in their position, you may well be dealing crack in the inner city also.

indeed i don't wanna get up myself because i am slightly drunk but i kinda sit on the fence though it may be seen as a slightly cowardice view point, even though I'm not ecstatic about the excess influx of immigrants to the UK i realize than any out and out discrimination of them would resemble that of the Nazi regime, i might be rambling now but really can't we all just get along and to quote hot fuzz its for the "greater good" ciaran out................. x

Newt from Aliens
Actually, that's just racism.
Reverse Racism is where you're extra nice to people of another race, BECAUSE they're of another race.
It's a little weird, but it happens all the time.
