What happens to John Doe's that die in a hospital?

When someone with no identification dies, and no one comes forth looking for a missing person, what happens to the corpse?

Depends on the individual State laws.
Most make efforts to trace relatives but if that is unsuccessful the State bears the cost of a simple cremation and interment.
A record is kept with DNA and fingerprints and any personal effects and the location/plot number so that if, at a later stage a relative does turn up they can be directed there.

Typically, it's buried in a "Potter's Field" at taxpayer expense.

In Florida, they take them out about 20 miles and drop them over the side. Some places just crank up a backhoe and dig a little hole, drop them in, cover them up.
