What is a arraignment?

I was arrested, posted bond and have now recieved my arraignment notice. When I show at court is it possible I will be arrested again. I plan to plead not guilty. Can they add more charges at the time of the arraignment. My attorney quit can I be given a pd now?

An arraignment is the hearing where you are arraigned.

They can add more charges at the arraignment and later.

You will be given a public defender if you cannot afford your own lawyer. Your attorney quitting has little to do with it, except if you hired a lawyer, it may be used as evidence that you can afford one. You will have to establish that you cannot afford one.

Sounds like more charges are coming--best not to commit crimes, eh?

They should have already given you all of your charges during your arrest.For the best advice go to Ask.com and speak to a free online attorney.To be on the safe side make sure you ask a attorney in your state because laws may be different..Becareful with pds they work for the courts.Good-Luck!

it is your first court appearance. you will plead guilty or not guilty at this appearance. you will not go to jail unless you did some serious stuff and the judge decides to hold you until your next appearance. are you a flight risk? how many prior offenses do you have? at the arraignment is a good time to speak with the prosecutor to see what his/her plans are. this will help you decide if you need an attorney or not. a PD will be granted if your income is under a certain amount. you may have to pay some of the attorney fees. if you really got into some trouble DO NOT use a PD!!! you will end up sitting in jail. if some where in your court process you have to do time, ask for house arrest verses sitting in jail. aint nothing like the comfort of your own home compared to jail. if you are in Minnesota i know a great criminal law attorney. he takes payments. good luck
