What is the Employee Free Choice Act?

What are the major pro's and major con's of them also?
How does it affect people with jobs, or without jobs?
How does it affect upper class, middle class, and lower class American's?

Answers along those lines pleased

It's a laughably misnamed law. It's designed to make it easier to form unions, but can lead to intimidation of workers who are not to keen on forming the union. It gives the unions the power to determine how the elections are run (secret or open elections) rather than the employer. You know then that EVERY election would be open and not secret, even though in theory both are available. The workers would be forced into voting for the union out of fear of retribution. The pros are that it would require less government interaction (the NLRB) so could take less time. Depends on who you are to whether that is a good thing or a bad thing.

It affects people with jobs and without jobs negatively (as all unions do) because with a globalized world, where companies need to be more flexible, unions force employers to be less flexible (just look at american car manufacturers versus foreign competitors) and ultimately lead to massive layoffs and bankruptcy. If it were not for the unions, GM would still be solvent.

It affects all of the classes, because more money is taken out of the employers pocket and placed in the union coffers (not really the hands of the employees, ultimately, because of bankruptcy and layoffs, etc...) so the only people that benefit are union organizers, lawyers and politicians.
