In Louisiana if you are here illegally you are automatically eligible for medicaid. All Doctor,hospital bills are paid by medicaid.
If you are an american, you apply for SSI which can take up to a year of hearings. Hospitals will say they don't have the facilities to help you so, you go to Charity Hospital and wait until your name is called. Hope you have lots of time on your hands.

By legal and illegal I assume you are referring to citizenship status?
Private hospitals are allowed to reject anyone who cannot pay their fees (as long as the person is stable enough to be moved to another facility). On the other hand, county hospitals are public and required to provide some level of service to everyone (despite their immigration status). |
