The Pope is against abortion because it's "killing a human life". And I guess everyone against it feels the same as the pope.
For abortion are all those people that want to do with their bodies what they want and "don't you dare interfere" etc etc. |

no problem at all on the "for" side, is the law of the land.
the reasons against always boil down to relgion, and attempts to encode religious beliefs into secular law. which is a big problem, see the 1st amendment. |

Do you mean what is wrong with each argument?
I think the question is: should the 'unborn' be given rights no one else has? With pro life, most argue that abortion is murder. It is not murder by definition (malice aforethought). Second argument being, right to life trumps everything. Not when one has to use another persons organs in order to live. There is no such thing as mandatory organ donation. I am for keeping abortion an option.
Having an abortion does not mean irresponsibility and selfishness. Accidents can happen to those that are not mentally, emotionally, financially, or physically ready or able to have a child, much less go through a pregnancy. Sometimes having an abortion is more responsible for all involved. I don't see how it is selfish to terminate if contraceptives fail and the person can barely afford the family they already have, for example. |

There's no right to live off someone against that person's will, physiologically, financially, or otherwise.
The church and government have no authority to dictate compulsory pregnancy to millions of citizens as some sort of service to the state.
Individuals own their bodies and choose when to bring new life into the world through them. |
