What is the statute of limitations for a minor child injured in a car accident in NJ to pursue a lawsuit?

my son was in a school bus that ran a stop sign. When we went to court at that time, the bus driver was found guilty & we were told by the judge, since he was a minor, we had till he was either 18 or 21 to file a suit in case anything resulted later that was a result of the accident. Is this not true?

A minor child cannot pursue a lawsuit, his parents have to do it. Usually the time runs out in two years, but that might change if there are other factors.
