There is no debate that Saddam was a really bad guy, but the US had a real interest in seeing him executed. Rumsfield, Gates(yes, the same Gates replacing Rumsfield was CIA Director back then, Rumsfield was a Reagan envoy to Saddam, Baker was Secretary of State)-the Reagan administration knew what he was doing back in the 80s and chose to do nothing...this excerpt from Democracy Now:
In the 1980's, the Reagan White House wasn't just busy defeating the so-called evil empire of the Soviet Union and out spending and bankrupting the Soviets, they were also engaged in a Middle East Policy in Iraq and Iran, that was aimed at obviously trying to defeat and neutralize the Islamic fundamentalists of Iran which were Americas perceived enemy at the time. To defeat Iran, we will fortify Saddam, he may be a killer. He may be a butcher, but he's our guy.
I would agree-death is not funny-wasn't then and isn't now. War is not to be cheered. Both are serious and treating them as anything less than extremely serious only shows third world country intelligence. |

what is wrong with America is that we have freedom of speech and people have the right to make statements such as yours. Were you in Iraq, you could be hung or worse for stating your opinion against the regime. Not everyone in America is watching the video or laughing about his death, but he WAS a MURDERER and deserved to die. He killed many people in his own country, which in turn tried him and hung him. He committed many crimes against humanity and has paid with his life. |

Go tell it to the thousands of people he murdered! |

Talk about justice to the Kurds in Iraqi. |

We didn't put him on trial, his one country did, and THEY decided to kill him.
Good thing too, the world is better off without anyone who tortures, kills innocent men, women and children. |

Did the hundreds of thousands he killed get justice? Not nearly as much justice as he got. He got an Iraqi court. Though that may not live up to the American judicial system (that may be a good thing), its what Iraq offered and its more than they had under Saddam's rule. I personally watched the video and thought he got what he deserved.
Heck, I woulda pulled the lever myself... |

Saddam murdered a lot of people inhumanely. Women, men and children, they did not have a chance to plead their case did they. They were innocent. |

Did you think it was funny when he was slaughtering thousands of his own people??? What is wrong with you??? He was given a trial by his own people, NOT Americans. I think it's ridiculous when crybabies belittle Americans, but if your freedom was at stake, Uncle Sam would be the first call you would make! Grow up and get off your high horse!!!!!!!!!! |

Bad people getting their due is always great. Besides he was charged and tried in Iraq with no American judicial influence. |
|

YA is a sham

Most Americans find no humor in it. He was found guilty by his own people in an Iraqi court under Iraqi law. The revenge would be for the thousands of innocent Iraqi people he murdered.
Hussein was treated much better than his victims... |

I see nothing funny about saddam. He was a sick man.
I havent heard the jokes going on about him. The death penalty suited him just fine, he got what he deserved. |

Liberals are wrong...
I saw an article on Yahoo.news yesterday that read "Children All Over the World Die When They Saw Hussein Hanging"
What kind crap is that? |

I thought it was hilarious, the way they mocked him and chanted the name of that one guy he murdered, whatever his name is, and the only comeback he could come up with was something about is this how you thing a man behaves. Oh, man, I can almost see it written in the history books of the future. It's never too soon to laugh about the death of that guy, sorry. And next time try to pick a more popular to defend...like Stalin. |

I think most people are looking at it as "an eye for an eye". Regardless of the trial, WMDs, and politics; his atrocities towards the Kurds and others are well documented and he deserved to die.
Human life without humanity has no value to me. |

yes you are right. all peace loving and democrats through out the world are condemning the execution of Saddam Hussein and branded it as travesty of justice. but where as in yahoo Q N A some people instead of showing sympathy and solidarity with Iraqis whose leader Saddam died like a martyr and will remain in the annals of history as THE ONLY HERO OF ARAB COUNTRIES WHO DEFIED THE AMERICAN IMPERIALISTS AND DIED. you need not take into consideration the opinions expressed here. most of the people in yahoo answers ridiculed the liberals and Dem's in November but the verdict came in their favor only. majority opinion is always not right. IT IS RIGHT THE VOICES OF PEACE LOVING FORCES CAN NOT BE HEARD IN THIS PLATFORM.IN MY OPINION, THE EXECUTION OF SADDAM IS NOTHING BUT MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE AS IT WAS DONE BY THE PUPPET GOVERNMENT OF THE US IMPERIALISTS WHOSE INVASION OF IRAQ CAUSED THE DEATHS OF MORE THAN 6,00,000 IRAQIS AND 3,000 AMERICAN SOLDIERS AND IRAQ WAS MADE BREEDING GROUND FOR SECTARIAN VIOLENCE . |

Bush just wanna get the oil from Iraq. After all, many killings of Iranian, Kurds and Shiite done by Saddam was backed by US. Why can't you all see this? Don't look back in several years. The war is fought from decades before. Saddam was just a scapegoat. Plus.. I don't think the court wasn't influenced by US. |

Even if he i is guilty no one has a single right to make a fun of it after all he was a human and we all watched him die, and no one said god be with him, imagine in your life someone making the fun of your or killing you and millions of us watching and making fun how does it feel it BAD. i request all of other people as well stopp making fun of it, It as a terrible moment for humanity. you raised a very good topic brother i appreciate that really i am with you. |

I don't think it is funny.
Saddam should have been charged in the World Court, like George Bush will be, not by a US handpicked judge and jury in Iraq where he could not get a fair trial!
As far as the hanging, we have made a Martyr out of a man that should not be one. They will only cause the deaths of more troops and civilians!
Bush probably didn't have an issue with it as his state, Texas, executes 1/2 of the people in the US who are executed! Even his own brother has stopped execution in Florida! |
