I think that flag burning isn't as delicate issue as people put it out to be. I don't agree with flag burning because it is dissrespectful in my mind but I think it should be aloud because our founding fathers intended the U.S. to be a country of freedom and liberty so by limiting our liberty to burn our flag even if dissrespectful makes our country less of what it was intended to be. |

It maybe freedom of speech, but burning the flag disrespects all who have died for the country! |

Hell no! If someone does not like the country they are a citizen of and burn that countries flag, then they should renounce their citizenship. If someone lives in the country where they burn that countries flag, they should get the hell out!
I have no control over what foreigners do with flags, so if they feel like burning them, I can't stop them.
But a U.S. Citizen or Resident needs to either renounce their citizenship or get the hell out of the country if they dislike it so much. |

The act should not be illegal due to Freedom of Speech.
Those who do it should be recognized by the FBI as self-proclaimed enemies of our nation. It is not mere dissent over some policies - it is symbolic destruction of our nation as a whole. |

Freedom of expression? Would it not be OK ,because it is freedom of expression, for a bunch of racists to catch an illegal immigrant and hold him down and physically abuse him before they let him go? I'm sure that you can think of many many instances where someone expresses their views but it is NOT alright. Burning the American flag is NOT an acceptable way to express your views. Comprendo? |

From the US flag code:
TITLE 4 > CHAPTER 1 > Sec. 8(k). It states:
"The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning"
So yes you can burn an American flag and be patriotic! |

they have the right to burn it--but as another citizen of the same country I should have the right to thump them upside the head when they do it--- same shoe different foot, can you walk the walk or are they all talk? |

No, the burning or maltreatment of any flag shows tremendous disrespect becuase of what the flag represents. if a US citizen has a problem with the things going on in the nation they should especialy love the flag and what it stands for: the people of america. and they should fight the things that r hurting the nation, not the her herself. |

Yes, under the following conditions:
Please wrap the flag-burning-person in the flag first, and soak it thoroughly with gasoline. Then let them light it. |

I think that it has both sides to it. I agree that its ok because its a free country, but then again its disrespecting all of our nations freedoms and what we've earned in the past year. Would I do it? HELLL NOOOO! But if you believe that you should burn the flag be my guest but don't do it around me. It has both its ups and downs to it and all lies down on if you really want to burn our nations flag or if you don't, it's that simple. |

its a matter of freedom of expression, however i think its disrespectful..freedom of expression nonetheless |

I think it ought to be legal, if that is the question. I don't think it is "OK," in the sense that I believe it is disrespectful. |

I do not think it is OK to burn the flag by US Citizens.
If they feel they need to burn the US flag they need to move to another country of their liking. |

The flag stands for freedom. Jailing someone for burning it would be like killing people to promote your peaceful religion. |

NO!, It's not alright to burn the US flag, especially by a US citizen.
If someone can't show respect for all the men and women that have died to keep that flag flying for all of us to have our freedom, they need to get out of the United States. What the heck are they living here for then? |

No it isn' okay. That is disrespect to all of those who have lost or risked their lives protecting this country and it is absolutely wrong. If a person hates the States that much, they can get out and stay out. We don't need them anyway. That should be considered treason. |

I think its just a piece of cloth and people need to stop deifying it.
The right to burn it is more symbolic of America than the actual flag.
My grandfather didn't fight in WW2 to protect a flag. |

I think that anyone should be allowed to express any opinion they want about the US government, directly or symbolically.
As soon as we allow the govt to censor people who dissent, we've lost. |
