What is your take on the Iran "boat" confrontation?

They are practicing for when they have a bomb on board - they are seeing what reaction they get so they can improve their plans.

This same thing happened prior to the Cole being hit.

They were again teasing and testing the US Navy like so many others have in past. The Captains of the ships were smart not to fire on the little boats. Iran is looking for issues on which to complain about the big bad USA killing the poor little old Iranians. They will be a thorn in our side over the next four years, so pick your President who has enough guts and experience to hand them, Chine and North Korea. Vote straight in '08

Having fairly recently gotten out of the Marine Corps my first reaction was, "why the hell did they not get blown out of the water?" In retrospect if we had taken action it could have quickly gotten out of hand and the United States is globally perceived as the bad guy so it would have become another catalyst of hatred. My concern is the same as the answerer who mentioned the Cole. I have met the former Command Master Chief of the Cole twice and from discussions with him I have to agree that they are most likely testing their leeway in preparation for something worse.

I think not only is Iran testing the water and pushing to see how far they can go, but they are also paying attention to what our liberal media has been saying and knowing that our military is now stretched due to the two front war that Clinton said we would never again see (as he was gutting our military). The thought of pushing us into a three front war probably appeals to those who think that in doing so, they stand to gain far more than they'll lose. Call it a play on the one upsmanship that we engaged in with the Soviet Union. Eventually, something's gotta give. And, again, being stretched in a two front war, Iran's making it a three front would serve them well (from an analyst's point of view).

I think we should have blown them out of the water, just so they no we aren't screwing around. However, I think those in charge acted appropriately.

It looks like a set up by either:

-Iranian/suicide bombers who were trying to instigate a confrontation to make the U.S. look bad.

-A tape put together by the US to give added reason for provoking a war with Iran.

I would never in a million years have even considered the latter, if it hadn't been for the foreign policy of our current leaders over the past 8/yrs AND for some of the events that have happened and facts that have been disclosed. I hope it is the former..... that hope itself is pretty scary, huh?

It looks fake. Another fake - like weapons of mass destruction, to start another war. If it is true however, may God help Iran for playing such a uttering stupid game. They would play dearly.
