Shoplifters forget that for everything 'free' they got, they'll pay more for the things they actually do purchase!
Company losses get passed on to the consumer, so therefore, you're screwing yourself everytime you steal.

That it costs all consumers more money because retailers lose millions of dollars from theft and having to implement more aggresssive loss prevention programs. These costs drive up the prices of products and piss off law abiding people like me when we have to pay for greedy thiefs' actions. |

Shoplifting is theft. Plain and simple. It makes honest people pay more for products due to dishonest people. Do you know that most store no longer have the right to grab a shoplifter after they leave the store? However you are on camera from 3-4 angles when you walk out the door and testimony from an Employee (does not have to be a Manager ) is used as an Expert witness during prosecution for more fines and/or jail time. |

Allot of people have done it at least once when they were younger. Some people do it for the 'thrill' of risk taking (cant understand it), or want to show off what they got.Some do it and sell the items for profit. Some are truly hungry or in need of a necessary item like diapers. Most are greedy (like the ones who sell the items). They use it as an easy way to obtain what they want without spending the money. |

the consequences waaaaaaaaaaaaay outweigh the thrill.... although i have thought of a pretty clever way to steal electronics from walmart... never done it though.
