What should I include in my speech about changing views about marijuana?

Using vaporizers, does not pose the same threats that come with smoking it, reducing the chances of cancer and emphysema. Everything causes cancer though...come to think of it, the only person I know that died of cancer seemed to live the healthiest life. Who knew she would be the one?
Legalizing it would create a lot of jobs here at home that people would be more than willing to do and they wouldn't have to spend so much on welfare. Plus more people would be able to get jobs, without losing their minds trying to quit or spend the 30 days trying to get clean. Taxing the incomes of the people working in the new industry would also create revenue for the government. This would also solve the cartel/gang problem drastically. Also people would not associate marijuana with other drugs such as cocaine and heroin, which do not compare at all to marijuana. The honesty will keep more people from ever trying those drugs. Let's be honest, the controlled drug list probably confuses children after they try marijuana (probably how they got that catchy line "gateway drug")
The reason it seems so widely abused is because it so effective at treating a wide range of problems, relatively easy for anyone to grow, and very safe for use. (something the pharmaceutical companies don't want to hear)
They should just except the fact that people are going to do it and they are throwing good people in jail, who are sane (would like to stay sane) and just in their use of the plant. It took them a couple hundred years to quit throwing people in jail or killing them for believing the world revolved around the sun.
America should set a good example and keep their good people out of jail. I need to take care of myself and without it, I might as well be in jail. I'm not going to take pills, where if I forget I took it, the second one might kill me and I don't want to be high all day, because then I can't do my job.

Jails are crowded with people that could be out being productive citizens and contributing to society.

think about how much money they could make if they taxed it instead of the money they spend on controlling explain by the police salary's they pay, and drug dogs, i mean we still want the hard drugs illegal but there could be a decrease in the number of officers required. It could be regulated and taxed the same way tobacco and alcohol are. Point is they can make more money on it being legal.

There was a movie that came out in the 50's I think called "Reefer Madness." It was thought then to be a realistic view of what happens to people who smoke it. Now, it's seen as a comedy. Good luck with your speech. Good topic!=)

Been around forever.
Government can't control/test/tax for it.

Explain how it works and what it does and what can be done to make it avaiable on the health trust.

perhaps you could point out that the overall effects of marijuana are significantly less harmful than those of alcohol and tobacco, both to the individual as well as to society, and yet alcohol and tobacco remain legal. To the body, marijuana does pose a threat to the lungs, but tobacco has been proven to be exponentially more destructive; it can also reduce reaction time as it does hamper your brains ability to function, but it has also been proven that brain cells DO indeed regenerate. As far as socially, marijuana does not cause the aggression seen by the abuse of alcohol...physical confrontations, risk taking, etc.
