Since you're asking this question, I'll assume you are not a law enforcement officer, so my advice to you if you catch an illegal alien is to hire a lawyer because you've probably broken the law. Making a "citizens' arrest" is only authorized, generally, where you actually witness the person engage in a felony. Simply being in the US illegally is typically only a federal misdemeanor. Which means that in "catching" the illegal alien all you've really done is kidnap or assault him. Vigilante justice doesn't pay. Have fun in jail. |
