Whoever bought it for you or your parents will get in trouble. You'll be charged with a minor in possession of tobacco. Depending on how tough your judge will be, you may or may not get probation, but you'll probably end up with community service.

While BreaknWreak's answer may be technically correct--it is not illegal to smoke--it IS illegal to possess tobacco products. If you can figure out how to smoke without possessing the cigarette, smoke away.

Anyhoo, it depends who catches you, and the state of mind of whomever is doing the catching. Probably just a lecture. The amount of penalty would depend on your state, but just a fine.

Depends where you live. Here, you get written up for a MIP (minor in possession) and have to go before a judge. They usually start with a three page report on dangers of tobacco use, then if there are further offenses you could serve time in juvenile hall. Best way to avoid all this is not smoking.

Depends on state. In some states, the same as a minor drinking alcohol......MIP (minor in posession). Stays on police record until 18....may affect college choices.

you'll be taken in by the police, they'll notify your parents, get your ID, fingerprints, the usual, force you to take a blood test to check if you've been taking any other drugs, ask who you got it from, get fined by the police, and have it go into your records.oh and possibly have the police monitoring you behavior, so if anything happens, you'll probably end up on probation or something. and if you were smoking and youâ€™re parents were in the area, thereâ€™s a big chance the police will be checking in with your parents seeing if thereâ€™s any child abuse going on.

Some of the people on here are REALLY stupid. It's called an MIP (minor in possession). It's just like a ticket, you'll have to pay a fine and usually attend tobacco education classes. I almost got one the day before my 18th b-day, but the cop let me slide. A lot of my friends in high school got MIPs.

You can get a "ticket" I got kicked out of school and grounded for life. Hunny take it from someone who knows. stop now heck its fun and good but it really is so bad for you especially at your age. I still smoke have been for about two years and I hate it! but I can't quite. I never get addicted to anything yet here I am. A cig has over 4,000 toxic chemicals in it. ONE of them! and it takes 8 minutes off your life every time you smoke one.If you care about yourself and respect yourself please please please dont do it anymore :( I wish I had listened to someone.....

If you were caught, the policeman would probably make you throw it away, and go home. Further consequences would be taking you home, talking to your parents.

I got caught hot boxing in a car at the back of my school once when i was 15, all they did was call home, which was really bad enough in my case

Nothing i guess, as far as i know its only Illegal to buy cigarettes i don't think the law covers how old you have to be to smoke them.
