Totally agree. It would be wonderful if they could tell the truth and also not use the age old trick of stating a " Committee" will be set up at some date in the future to look at the 'problem'! Just a way of hoping it will go away! |

Stop robbing me blind with all the taxes we now pay. Stop the PC band wagon and start making people responsible for their own lives. Listen to the majority and not the minority. Provide adequate health care and education. Stop penalising the English for being English. Show some common sense. Minor rant over !!!! |

I would like any new Government to
1. stop taxing basic pensions so that pensioners have a little more cash in their purses.
2. Somehow stop UK companies using overseas call centres and overseas manufacturing which is putting UK people out of work.
3. Stop all this "political correctness nonsense - I call a spade a spade, not an "earth removing implement".
4. Bring back all of our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan - the money saved can be put to good use by lowering our taxes.
I totally agree with your wishes, especially the discipline and think they should bring back correctional schools (Borstals) instead of ASBO's. |

agree with all that but would also like somewhere for teens to go so they are not bored or out causing trouble on a night, bring back youthclubs, I say |

I would want them to do something about our rubbish immigration laws. We are far too lenient in this country and seem to take anybody in, to heck with the economy or crime levels. Before you all say it - I'm not in the least bit racist. I have 3 year twins and worry about what kind of future they will have. Why do we seem to accept the immigrants that countless other countries turn away at the border? I am fully behind genuine cases, but when immigrants come here purely beacuse we are such a pushover, it makes my blood boil, especially when it is my hard earned money that supports them!! |

The long standing scandal is - Where are the National Health dentists?
I moved into another area a few years ago and there are still no vacancies in NHS Dentists around here.
It's all right for the MPs, they are, no doubt on some fancy health scheme. |

Sooooooo true!!
Too much money paid to penpushers, agency staff, people who monitor our invaluable teachers and NHS healthcare workers .
If they paid our workers decent wages in the first place they wouldn't have to pay through the roof for agency staff.
Too much time is wasted by doctors/nurses/teachers doing paperwork instead of curing/caring for the sick, teaching discipline to the kids etc.
Bring back apprenticeships. A piece of paper does not make you qaualified for a job. Nurses and radiologists never used to have to get a degree, it was learnt on the job. Now, to increase the number of graduates, they've turned these occupations into academic courses before you can practice.
More resources to bring communities and people together. So many people are isolated due to lack of financial and physical resources. Makes me real mad that they are more concerned about keeping up appearances than doing what's important for their people.
See my answers to qs re government - |

I agree with bringing back apprenticeships with a job after qualifying. Also I would like to see more financial help for people who actually go out to work. I have a neighbour who is on benefit, pays no rent and has just a '06 saloon. I've had the same car for the last seven years with no immediate possibility of changing it. Its unfair that I am encouraged to go out to work but am financially worse off than someone who chooses not to. I would like to see more done for the elderly like free heating to those over a particular age. |

Is this all part of a campaign by one of the parties to guage what they need to do to guarantee the vote?
Agree that we should stop outsourcing essential services. In fact, I also think we should stop outsourcing all our industrial needs. Britain is going to end up as a third world country with no industry of it's own. I work for a company who are outsourcing most of their present production needs. What happens to the manual workers of the UK when there are no jobs left for them? A move to China or somewhere like that perhaps??
I also think that every dentist should have to take on a set quota of NHS patients to ease the shortage. It should be written into their code of practice. |

I would like to see all the things you suggest but, it will never happen. Most MP's are only interested in things that can make themselves rich. |

I'd like for them to make some changes to the NHS so it's more accessible for people, as at present not everyone can afford private practises and getting an appointment anywhere is horrendous. Also, I'd like a bit of a cut in taxes, but that won't happen. If they spent them better, I think I'd be less agitated about them taking so much off me!
You've made a good point about discipline in schools as well - if they gave teachers more room to deal with bad pupils, it would stop some of the bullying and make it less painful for some kids. At the moment bullies can get away with everything because they know there's enough loopholes in the system, it's too lenient. Great question by the way! |

The next government is receiving London with the biggest level of poverty for childhood, being London capital of drugs and fire guns in Europe, where the houses are 300 thousand pounds on average, I would like to see simply that the 60 billion budget they want to use on the chip and satellite system tax that already almost 2 million people had written against would be used in massive housing developing, NHS urgent improvement and definitely tackling the problem of guns, drugs, gangs and weapons with more than "video rap" which I would find laughable if it would not be so sad.
To quit Irak and use the same amount of money, 90 billion in Londoners, the ones we are sinking in taxes for the government to do what they please and not what they have to... |

I also want them to scrap Trident (or whatever they are going to replace it with) and scrap their idea to introduce ID cards. |

I think your suggestions are very good.
I'd also like to see them:
- enshrine freedom of speech as a legal right
- bring in environmentally-friendly tax incentives
- crack down on ultra-rich individuals and corporations that dodge their taxes
- set up a fully elected House of Lords
- renationalise the railways
- stop all PFI schemes
- reform the export credit guarantee department
- disestablish the church
- offer nursery places to all under-5s
That should keep them busy for a couple of weeks... ;) |

A plan to renationalise utility companies and plant more trees, without the use of child labour, would be a good start. |

Every now and again it is fun to swim against the flow.
I do not believe that we should be abdicating our own responsibilities to the Government. If we keep doing that, the Government will have to pay people to do the things that we should be doing for ourselves. Not only does that put up taxes, it usually means that the job isn't done as well as any centralised service will require a large managerial and administrative structure to support it.
I would suggest that we should all play a part in supporting and caring for our elderly relatives.
Discipline in schools starts in the home - plus as parents we should be speaking to our children's teachers to ensure that it isn't our own children disrupting the classroom.
Administrators in any organisation are a sign of centralised control. The need for administrators would lessen if the Government could trust local communities to monitor and get involved with their local hospitals - that requires a commitment.
If we are not prepared to make such commitments then we should not complain about higher taxation - all of that comes from having to employ people to look after the old, to train and employ more teachers, to perform checks on the performance of hospitals and set priorities for the NHS. |

You must be very astute as every one of your suggestions was worthy of note. I had things in my head to put on the list but on reading through I found that you had them covered.
I did not see this one though. Council tax and other taxes should not be increased for those people on fixed incomes, pensioners in the main, as although the cost of these local taxes increase, the incomes of pensioners do not increase at anything like the rate of the taxes. It is bad enough for them to keep up with the cost of food etc. A good question even though you have actually given the best answer yourself. |

It would be great if they could actually help single mothers back to work instead of just saying it. I went to college and struggled so much with childcare that I had to quit. I got a job and they refused to help with childcare in the school hols. I don't live near any family so don't have anyone to help out. I am back to staying home when I really want to get out and work. |

The very first thing I would look for is a very deep probing public enquiry into the dark dealings of this present government. All the spin and lies, dodgy dealing and corrupt practises that have seen taxes soar, councils able to give substantial fines for non criminal offences. All the money supposedly given to the NHS which then goes deeply into debt, cancels operations and sacks doctors and nurses.
A government which says this is the best chancellor we have ever had yet the same man is warned by the IMF that the country is in deep debt to the tune of many billions of pounds necessitating huge rises in taxes and cut backs in services.
Come on let's get at the truth for only by doing that will be ever stand a chance of getting an honest and proper working governmental system!!! |
