WhatI am looking to legally purchase a SHOTGUN in NY state with a NJ license? Can I? would you like to ask?

I currently live in NY state. There is a really big gun show this weekend and I am looking to purchase my first shotgun.

I have a NJ license with my permanent address. I rent a property in Syracuse and have my name on the lease. I also have bank statements that are sent to my Syracuse address. I spend most of my time in Syracuse. I know NY and NJ are not the best states for gun owners to live in but any knowledge from anyone currently lives in either state would be great.

I am an American citizen and understand I have rights afforded me by the constitution. Can anyone help me understand my rights to purchase a firearm. What is the best way to go about purchasing a shotgun? Any help would be fantastic. Thanks so much.

PLEASE: Keep your opinions of the 2nd amendment to yourself. We live in a DEMOCRACY where everyone lives under the SAME constitution. Your 1st amendment protects you like my 2nd amendment protects me. I am not purchasing a handgun or assault weapon.
