Whats your opinion on the death penalty?

It blows my mind how people can be anti-capital punishment and pro-abortion.

Either respect all life, or respect all innocent life, but not the liberal "don't kill convicted murders, but kill all the babies you want".

BTW - to the person below... the Bible does NOT say "Thou Shall Not Kill"... it says "Thou Shall Not Committ Murder." There is a difference.

iam all for it. our system just waits to long before they do it.and i agree with sugaree 100%. they should take child molesters to be put to death right after leaving the court house.

well there are 2 ways of looking at the death penalty, some people feel we should protect the civilians by just killing murderers and others believe in protecting the rights of the murderers, like its wrong no person should take the position of "God" and take a life away no matter what they did. if u do research most people who get the death penalty r poor and cannot afford a good lawyer to fight the case for them and in some cases that causes them to die even if really they didn't do the crime. so it depends on how u look at it. i really am torn between whether i think its right or wrong.

there should be more of it, why should tax payers pay for a criminal to eat good food, play sports and do recreational things, and they dont have to pay rent?

In my book, i personally believe that the death pentalty is absurd, I'm sure we are civilized enough to realize that the death penalty is just plain absurd.
I think it's cruel and inhumane, why kill someone just because he/she murdered lots of people?
Why not jail him for life.
Not jail as in normal jail.
I think the government should make a special "jail" in which the people are actually treated as criminals, they should get 3 meals a day whatever the staff choose, they are not allowed to be visited or see the outside word, they should be punished lethaly and be isolated for life.

If it is proven that someone deserves it...the by all means, but them to death. However, I don't think that once someone is sentenced to death they should be allowed to appeal their case multiple times and spend several years sitting on death row. That is part of the prison over-crowding problem.

if they are found guilty then why wait and cost the tax payer over 15000 a year to keep them; give them what they ask for by killing people put them to death no jail for they have no to blame; they did it kill them.

i am all for it if and only if it is implemented in the correct way. and i'm starting to believe there is no way to guarentee that it can be used properly. innocent people have been put to death and african americans are put on death row at a considerably higher rate than whites who committed the same crimes so therefore right now it is not being used properly.

i think that it is ridiculous that some people set on death row as long as they do, and that most prisons get 20,ooo dollars worth of new books each year, the death row prisoners have access to those new fresh books. meanwhile in the cities, schools are suffering, ceiling tiles falling on students, students are using the same history books that their fathers used in some cases...but those prisoners on death row...they have new books.

who is so special to decide who gets it and who doesn't?
who's so special to judge how wrong the crime has been or not.
if a criminal kills, is it then ok for us to kill too?
is an eye for an eye ever our road to PEACE?
a criminal mind needs HELP, not to be put out of this world because we're too lazy to deal with him/her.

Some facts: It does not deter anyone from committing capital crimes. It is very expensive to carry out. It originated in most primitive nomadic societies that could not and had no way to establish permanent settlements, so locking someone in a cage was extremely impractical. They would have had to carry it with them when they moved to more productive areas. However, dead people do not commit crimes. Locking people in cages and treating them worse than animals does not rehabilitate them either. You decide.

I agree with it, as long it has gone to a fair trial with judge and jury and there is no doubt thats ok.

I believe that an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. But in some cases ( I.E. serial rapists. killers, child molesters evil dictators) call for more than imprisonment. I hate the way it's done because the convicted wait years and waste the tax payers money before they are taken care of. I say, if we're gonna execute em' do it right away! yehaw!

It's really NOT more expensive when compared to jailing criminals for life. Consider the food, health benefits etc. taxpayers have to dole up to upkeep all jailhouses.

Not sure that death penalty is the solution. However, it does say on the Bible somewhere that if your right arm steals, your left arm should chop it (or something like that).
