DON'T JUST STOP PAYING! (Yes, I'm shouting.)
Some court orders say that child support continues until the child graduates high school OR college, even if the child is over 18, so you want to make sure what the end date is supposed to be. Don't just assume it is age 18.
When it's time for child support to end, according to the court order, go to court at that time and get an official order for the child support to end. Otherwise, you might still be liable to pay. It might cost $20-30 to file a motion to end the child support, but that's a small price to pay to make sure everything is done legally and correctly. |

My divorce states "upon the childs 18th birthday or graduation from high school, whichever is later." With my youngest's birthday in April, I will be paying a month and a half after he turns 18 |

18 unless in school. Up to 22 if in school. |

When they are eighteen or if they attend college, until they graduate, or 23 if they're taking too long to graduate. |

They have no choice but to pay till at least when the court says to stop,
But if the child is going to go to college you should still be supporting the child in college. |

18 unless the child is still in high school living at home. For example, Your daughter turns 18 in March but doesn't graduate until June and is still living under the other parents roof. |

where the child truns 18 they are a adult you do not have to pay child support , if you have court papers read them carefully it should tell you. |

How about "when the kid doesn't NEED it anymore?" |

the law says 18 unless they go to college, then its till 21. If you owe back child support and the child's mom was on support the money goes right to the system and that can continue until its paid off it dosent matter the child age, and if she wasn't on support it continues to go right to her. Hope that helps. Good Luck. |

contact your county child support worker. But I would think it would be 18 and finished high school. Unless there were other arangements made in court |

that is your child you should not feel obligated or be thinking of stop supporting your child legally it would be 18 but as a father you should should willingly help your child long after |

When the courts say, unless a previous written agreement was made with the other parent, in which case, the agreement should have been filed with the courts. It may be when the child turns 18, when they have finished with college or when they move out of the custodial parents home should they move prior to the age of 18. |

I think you usually stop paying when they turn 18, unless of course you are behind any payments. Then they tack on interest that you have to pay for what you are behind pluss the interest. |

A father should cease paying child support when the court order for child support says so. In some cases it will be when the child is 18 and in some cases, the spouse will push to have the order read in such a way as to support the child while the child is in college. |

It's sounds like someone wants to get out of their moral and financial responsibility. This is how it works most of the time
18 yrs is the norm
23 if obtaining an undergraduate degree
until death if permanently disabled
or until emancipated by either the courts or becoming a parent themselves. |

I thank that a father should pay child support, until the child is 19 teen or evein 20. Because thay are not fully grown and that child mother still needs help with him or her. My son father never pays his child support and never sees him, but he's use to it now. The child support system is jack up any way, they don't do what they should any way. Ive come this far any way not getting help and his step father helps me out a lots. So to all the dead beat fathers out get it togather. |
