When was the last time you could own a person legally?

I know slavery was abolished in the US in 1865. But were their other examples past that?

Technically yes. Native American slavery didn't actually end until later on, even though slavery in general was made illegal. My great grandfather was born into slavery approx. 1904.
Even though it was made illegal, people even today have found "legal" ways to own people in the US.
