Gay marriage is legal today in Massachusetts - the only difference is that it is not sanctioned by any church, and you cannot move to another state (nor return to the state you came to Massachusetts from) and be legally married there
Shortly, in Rhode Island, there will be a civil ceremony of some design for gay couples that will be effective in the couples home state, or next state of residence.

Well, I think those decisions should be made by local communities. I would not be in favor of state or federal regulations in this area. Many of the social problems we have today are caused by people trying to force their values on others. I believe that personal life-style decision should be left up to local communities. It is unrealistic and probably detrimental to try and force a homogeneous value system on a country as diverse as the USA. However, that is not stopping the far right or the far left from trying to use force (government regulation) to legislate their values on the whole country.

NEVER. The Bible defines marriage as being between 1 man and 1 woman. This definition has worked for over 2000 years, and any attempt to redefine it won't work.

Next you'll want to allow marriages between 3 people, or 2 guys and a sheep.

Any combination other than 1 man and 1 woman cannot be married. But there is nothing to stop them from having whatever type of civil union or acknowledgment they choose. All they need is a lawyer to do the papers and they can set up all the rights states give to marrieds.

This argument of someone being DENIED something is TOTAL CRAP.
