I know it is easy to build a economical, high milage car,(50mph+) for well under ten thousand, we the buyer are paying millions in $$$ for retirement and job protection, because of the unions..Brazil did it, why not here in the US

It is all about supply and demand...we here in the US have a need for instant gratification. WE NEED our cars and now no matter the cost. Even on days of so called "black balling" the gas companies, many people just go and do what they need at that moment. We cross picket lines, we as a society have no loyalty which causes for many to take advantage of our NEEDS. If only we would all say ENOUGH, then things would change. But at this point it won't happen, we are too self serving. |

The automakers will make cars that are cheap and economical when people actually want to buy cheap underpowered mini-cars. As far as the unions, I can't speculate. |
