Where can I find out what I need to practice certain types of law?

Immigration in particular ?

Each State has different rules, The only way to find out is to check with your state bar assn. At one time in California you could study any way with correspondence courses or on your own as long as you could pass the Bar Exam, now you must get a degree.


Common
No matter what kind of law you practice, it all starts in the same place: law school. You need to go to one and get your Juris Doctoris. Then you need to pass the bar exam and get sworn in where you want to practice. After that, its just a matter of finding a job.


Critters
I know this sounds silly, but why don't you get a job at a law firm? Even in doing just menial things or answering phone, you will learn so much about that specailization, and find out if it is a field you want to pursue.
