Where is the man's right in abortion?
Find answers to your legal question.

Where is the man's right in abortion?

The law allows your wife to have abortion even if you are against it. She doesn't even have to get your permission.
However, if you accidentally impregnate a woman on a one-night stand, she can sue you for child support. It doesn't matter if you don't want the child.
Why the anti-male feminazi doublr standard ?

Wow. The law even allows your wife to get a divorce if you don't want to. Isn't it crazy how women have rights these days?

Honestly, though, don't you think it would be terrible to force a woman to have your child?

Its a HUGE double standard that really makes no sense. If a man gets a woman pregnant yet has no say-so on if she has the baby, why should it be MANDATORY that the man pay child support?

Good point.

Interesting question. I guess its because if you have the abortion you dont need child support. I think it would be a great idea if they had to go through the man as well to get the abortion legalized (in an ideal world there would be no abortion). But then again a lot of women having abortions dont know who the man is......

I think that if the man clearly states that he wants the women to have an abortion, and she doesn't want to, then he shouldn't have to pay for ANYTHING!! I think forcing him to pay is messed up--it needs to be fixed!!
they should have some sort of legal document that a guy can sign saying he advised the woman to have an abortion and wants nothing to do with the kid.

I am answering that question to a Priest. If man is made by image of God, why are we acting like animals ? is there any responsibility face to the nature in any human beeing? Where is the level of our evolution, when we have one-night-stands without thinking at the consequences?....for the woman and for the child....

You freely left your sploge in her. You were not forced or begiled. If those are the case than you are responsible for the damages caused and lost all rights to your sploge.

Females should be able to sue for abortion costs as well.

I agree there should be rights. Some would argue that the man got the enjoyment and the woman the burden so it is her decision.

A man will have a legal right in abortion when he can carry the child for 9 months himself. In an ideal world, I think it would be great if men who didn't want their partners to get abortions could carry the kid themselves. But until then, women will be the ones making the call since it is their body being given up in 9 month blocks of time.

The man should have no say whatsoever when it comes to abortion. It's not HIS body that the fetus is residing in. That's just the way it is and is the reason why men don't have a say until after birth.

As for men having to pay child support for babies they don't want, I'm against this. Men should be able to legally relinquish all rights to any unwanted children and not have to pay child support for them.

curious_chemical
If the father has no say because it isn't his body, then niether does the government.

The question should be - Where is the fetuses right in abortion?

amazinggrace
Let's look at this from a practical stand point... child support requires a paternity test, so would abortion now require a fetal paternity test? Also a rape victim would have to prove that she was raped and that that was the only possible way she could have conceived-- these things require time, thus you're proposed paternal notification might lead to an increase in partial birth (D & X)/ late term abortions-- a position I'm sure you do not support
There are so many cases where this would be a bad thing but the primary point I'd like to bring up is this: a woman is allowed domain over her own body... this is her right to life, this is her right to health and this is her right to make decisions regarding her self... also there is a false analogy in your question, the child support issue is beyond the pail of relevance... the man has an obligation if there are consequences of his indiscresion but if he was a one night stand he's unlikely to even know of his partner's pregnancy and will have no reprecussions if she gets an abortion
PS Southern Baptist? you seem to have something of a fan club anyway!

Physiologically, man is half the tango that results in pregnancy.
Legally, if a woman can ask a man to provide financially for the child, he should have a say.
Morally, stop and think a little guys! Don’t put yourself in the situation to have to consider abortion.

Look at the bright side. If the woman aborts the fetus with which you impregnated her, she can't sue you for child support.

Of course, if you wanted the child, you wouldn't mind paying child support. If she doesn't abort the fetus and then sues you for child support, then you're saying you would rather she'd aborted? Your first case suggests you're opposed to abortion.

I THINK...this is just a little semantic game of yours, and not quite the contradiction you make it out to be.

I'm 100% on your side regarding fairness. I'm a stickler about it myself.

However, have you ever seen the movie Pleasantville? If we take what you are saying about justice to an extreme we get a make-believe world where you shoot a basketball behind you and it swishes through the hoop in front of you.

The point about life that preachers and religious people miss is that our differences, quirks, and unexplainables are exactly what makes life worthwhile.

If you remedied every hypocrisy and alleviated every ounce of suffering and made everybody think the same way your work would be done. If the world were Pleasantville nobody would be on Yahoo! Answers and nobody would fill the collection basket at your church.

We need these problems. It gives us something to experience. I'm sure you wouldn't be happy smelling a rose bush all day long right?

I can tell you this, regarding your question, the laws you're talking about are the AFTER part of the equation. You have full control of the BEFORE part of the equation.

In conclusion, can you please take the edge off these questions and have faith that everything is ok?

I'll leave you with a few words from Carly Simon:

"...take another picture and you will see...it's the stuff that dreams are made of..."

That's my challenge for you. Empty your thoughts, go someplace you've never been, and take another picture.
