Depends whether the victim's race was a motive for the attack. If so then the answer would be equal but no doubt the media would pounce on the story of the white man beating up the black man.

I agree with first answerer. every crime is a hate crime. Color means nothing. I think that if a black guy kills a white guy he should get the same as if it were vice versa.
If courts nowadays discriminated there would be hell. They have recently and do everyday but it's not noticable. Sometimes you get a black judge if your white and a black jury and your screwed but all in all, all crimes are commited with negative emotions, hate, jealousy, anger, sadness. To call a black on white or white on black crime a 'hate' crime is only numbing the advancement in racial equality this world is currently trying to achieve.

Why is it wrong for a white person to call a black person '*****', but it's alright for a black person to call a white person 'cracka' and another black person '*****'?

EVERY crime is a hate crime. I've never heard of anyone committing a crime against someone out of love for the victim.

The whole premise of "hate crimes" is seriously flawed. In order to properly answer this question we would have to know the motives for the alleged beatings.

A "hate crime" would be a crime committed because of the victim's "status as a member of a protected group."

If the black guy beat the white guy because Mr. Black does not like whites ... hate crime! If the beating happened because Mr. Black thought Mr. White damaged his property ... no hate crime!

If Mr. White beats Mr. Black while robbing him ... no hate crime! If Mr White beats Mr. Black because he is African-American ... hate crime!

See how weird things get when the government tries to create "thought crimes"?

It would be more heavily punished on the white guy (no offense black guys). Because if it wasn't it would be considered racist. the black guy would be looked upon as a product of the streets, even if he was raised in Hawaii. On a high rise flat. With his white grandmother. Hmmm.

Involving race in to the equation means nothing. You have to look at the crime in general. Maybe the black guy is beating up the white guy because the white guy broke in to his house as a random burglary, or vise versa. Race had nothing to do with the situation initially. But now that the two individuals have been IDed as of differing races it becomes a "hate crime". The term hate crime is BS...Its a crime, who cares what the motive may or may not be, what is important is the outcome.

In prosecution they like to attach "hate crime" to any interracial crime because it adds to the list of crimes and hopefully brings the judge and/or jury to a quicker resolution. Anyone that feels they were victimized (regardless of race) feels they were a target for hate, even when the crime's victim was unintended just inevitable.

If a black beats up a white guy it is because of centuries of oppressing so no offense.
If a white beats up a black guy it is racist because of centuries of oppression so should go to prison for 100 years.
