I was asked this by a very snobby person, named "infiniti" in response to a question I asked. So now I will ask you, which do you think is worse?

If you take out the fines, probation, possible jail time, that all depends on which state, I would say possession of marijuana. A DWI may revoke your license which could become a major inconvenience due to reliance of public transportation but a drug possession charge can affect your entrance to a college/university (higher education). Most US undergraduate/graduate school applications will ask if you were ever convicted of a drug charge and this may prevent you from getting a better education. |

As far as the law is concerned it depends on much marijuana you have on on you. Most states have allow up to one ounce as personal use - class D felony charge. Drunk driving laws are pretty standard state to state and are class B or C felonies. Class A felonies are the big daddies - Murder, rape, drug manufacturing ect. Class D's are minor felonies.
As for my opinion - I don't care how much pot your carrying just don't be driving while messed up. When you buy pot to use or share there is less direct harm to me, my family, my friends and everyone else. When you get behind the wheel of a car after drinking/drugging you place the welfare of all the people around you in danger. |

Depends on the state. In many places, possession of marijuana is a felony, so it wins. In other, possession is barely even worth mentioning.
However, since marijuana is an illegal substance no matter what state you're in, the ramifications of that in itself will haunt you down the road more than a DWI will. |
