Overall I have to go with the pump action 12 gage.
It is very versatile. You can shoot a variety of ammo from a very light bird shot to a brass hollow point slug.
As a hunting weapon, depending on the ammo you can pretty much hut anything from game birds to deer and other larger mammals.
As a sport shooting weapon you can shoot trap and skeet.
As a defensive weapon they can be darned effective, not only because they don't require much accuracy to aim effectively, but because if you run out of ammo and you find yourself in close quarter combat they can be used as a very solid club as well.
Also, the pump action itself mechanically has very little that can go wrong with it, thus making it very reliable. |

Ruger series handguns are generally nice to look at and easy to aim and fire. They're pretty well counter-balanced and the recoil won't throw off your aim when the trigger is pulled.
My choice? The P-89 and P-91 models. |

Remmington .35 (rifle). It's kind of heavy to carry while hunting deer...but the power and accuracy is worth it. |

I'm a fan of the M249 SAW machine gun. It's my assigned weapon in the military.
It fires 5.56 rounds at an awesome 750 RPM. It has virtually no recoil and sits atop a bipod. It can be fed through a magazine or through a 200 round barrel.
This machine was adopted for use by the Army in 1982 and has been the main machine gun for light infantry troops since.
The finest gun one has ever used. |
