I think that it is the greatest plant on earth...

I just don't understand why some people seem to think that people that smoke weed are some how stupid or dumb for smoking it...
Like you, and your good grades, your not stupid or dumb, right?
Either am I and a whole lot of other people..

I have already seen some good examples of the ignorance that plagues our country from some of the answers to this question...

It makes me sick.. Do these people even know what the hell they are talking about..

LOL @ Bill D. Here's an idea: use YOUR head and do some research on the effects of dope before spurting off anti-drug propaganda which has been hammered into your head. I wouldn't call marijuana healthy, but you're way over exaggerating its negative effects.

I, personally, have nothing against dope, though I'm not planning on smoking the stuff either.

Since Washington and Jefferson were growing hemp at their plantations in Virginia and did not have a problem with it who am I to complain about it. Weed never hurt anyone. It is a great relaxer for some people and a better way to relieve pain than taking harsh drugs like Oxycontin's.

I'm with you 100%. And I know it's a really overdiscussed topic, but I wish we would just legalize it already. It's no worse for you than cigarettes and people are going to smoke it anyway. I actually think that if it was legalized, then it wouldn't be as attractive to some people because it wouldn't be against the law.

I'm a good student too, first year Sociology major with a 3.7. I don't think marijuana makes you a lazy slacker. Apathy exists even without weed present.

Oh and J, did you know that due to Prohibition, alcohol was once illegal? So don't automatically write off anything that is illegal as being "bad for you." Marijuana is actually legal in many countries. It's no worse for you than a cigarette and better for you than alcohol.

actaully you can over dose though hard to cause you have to smoke a lot in like fiffteen minutes and it can be laced with other thing that can kill you and i personally think that any thing that naturally shouldnt be in your lungs dosnt belong there but its your choice way to go on the 4.0

The ones who haven't used it. The only bad thing about it is it can ruin your lungs but so can smoking and being a coal miner. So what's the dif? Coal miners work to make a living and know what can happen to their lungs but it's called survival, they need the money. So marijuana smokers smoke knowing it is bad for their lungs but it's called getting high and they need the high. Which is worse? I don't. It made my lungs worse but no big deal. I'm not going out for the Olympics or anything. It never did nothing to my intelligence. When I smoked I didn't have any.

Considering the guy who sat in front of me in my history class last year smoked weed during lunch almost everyday, I think I can say it effects the way you act. Before lunch, he actually did work every once and awhile. He might try to copy someones work? After lunch? No. He was too high to even copy his notes down.
Then, he and his friends would talk about times that they'd go out partying. They'd do drugs, and drive home afterward. He stabbed himself in the arm with a knife while he was high. He has a nice huge scar now.

But please, do your drugs responsibly. It IS just like drinking. You have to do it responsibly. It impairs your judgment whether you like it or not. Have a designated driver. Do it at home. Something.
I personally know people who have been killed while sitting in their HOME by people who were under the influence of marijuana while driving. That's how bad you can be impaired. It's the cold, hard truth.

I've personally witnessed too many negative effects to say it's good. It IS bad...sure, there are some people who can handle it and be fine and there are others that it consumes their lives...just like alcohol. I've seen people rob their families, break into houses and let their children go without food just to get a little.I've known more than one person that died or was injured after passing out at the wheel of a car or doing stupid things because they smoked a bit much.People also have their college careers and lives ruined because they get caught with it.Most work places test for its presence...you can't get a good job if you smoke. It may seem recreational, but when you get a good chance to really observe lifetime users the picture is not as rosy as you paint it. Best of luck on not getting busted.

I know you'll disregard this answer, thinking I'm just some goody two shoes making this up...but hell, I lived with a dealer for four years, I think I know what I'm talking about.

I think marijuana is ok ONLY when not abused i think there should be a law that once you missed used marijuana your finned and must go through some kind of help program before reusing

OMG I know it is bad. I grew up in the 70's and 80's, it is now almost 2010, I would love to introduce you to a couple of guys who were at one point two of the smartest kids in my class but have now smoked so much weed they can't even remember where they put their car keys 10 seconds ago. One of them went to college and got a 4 year degree and was counseling kids for alcohol and drug abuse then he got busted for having 2 ounces of weed on him, got fired, and is now working on a pulling unit crew which is crappy work, the other one can be seen on most days riding his bike around town at 40 years old because he doesn't have a car.

No that is not true, the short term memory is caused from losing so many brain cells, look that fact up, brain cells are not regenerated, once you lose them they are gone for good, they do not come back after you are "not high" anymore.

I think that weed is just a waist of time, doing some thing that can ruin your life and it is just one thing that will ruin your life i guess that is just on my mind. Well just don't do any drugs cause it has a 88% chance to ruin your brain and it will damage 95% of your brain!

Actually I want my doctor to opperate on me while high! That would be cool. And people to drive around while high! There would be organizations like the MASID (Mothers Against Stoned Idiots Driving). Wonder why that hasn't taken place? Because it's illegal and not widespread yet. Why is alcohol so widespread? Because it's legal. Personally I believe BOTH marijuana and alcohol should be illegal. Anything that makes you function irrationally is dangerous. You DO function irrationally while high. Maybe not when sober, but continuous use WILL cause brain damage, memory problems, etc. Driving while high, with slow relexes, it is VERY likely you can harm someone. I wouldn't trust anyone who had 20-30% of their normal mental function opperating machieracy. Also, why do tons of people smoke pot now? Probably because of the VERY lose laws regarding it? If the death penalty was offered, would you think twice?

It is being linked to some pretty heavy mental illnesses like schizophrenia. It has been shown to permanently alter brain cell function if used for an extended number of years. Do some solid research, you will see it isn't really all that safe.
