The Supreme Court of the United States is your (our) last line of defense when it comes to preserving our Rights pertaining to the Bill of Rights. They also have the power to destroy the Bill of Rights.
That is why I have always voted Conservative (Republican) when it comes to Federal Elections. Obama could save our Constitution by replacing Justice Souter with a Conservative Supreme Court Judge but he won't.
Obama is a hardcore Liberal who will stop at nothing to destroy the Bill of Rights and hand this country over to the United Nations.
We will lose our 1st and 2nd Amendment Rights under this moron and we will become just another Fascist Liberal State if he is not removed from office by 2012. We could stop this freak by voting for Conservatives in the Senate in 2010 but it is obvious to me that most voters are ignorant.
The Dems have all the power right now and Liberals love the fact that they can destroy every tradition, moral and scruple that our Founding Fathers risked their lives for so that the USA would always be the greatest nation on Earth.
Always vote Conservative if you want true Freedom. I will get many 'thumbs down' for this answer but trust me, Liberals are the greatest threat to your God given Rights than any other terrorist organization on the face of this Planet.
Edit: Please take note that most of the other people who answered your question bashed Bush. G.W. Bush kept our country safe from terrorism for more than 7 years. He broke no laws as he had Congressional approval to protect this Nation (and that includes Democrats). Clinton turned a blind eye to 7 counts of terrorism against this country and did not bother to capture Osama bin Laden although he had three chances to do so.
Do not let the ignorance of Liberals do any more harm to this Country.

only the creator gave the rights (per us constitution/declaration)...I suppose it could take them away as well...but I wouldnt think the creator would enslave humanity. thats mans job.

the constitution does NOT grant rights. it only specifies what rights that cannot be infringed upon by government. only the creator grants rights. read the document and look up the word inalienable. the creator grants inalienable rights to all humans. it just so happens that the USA is the only country in the world who acknowledges it.

The government that passed the patriot act and all unconstitutional legislation before and after 9/11 is in breach of the constitution. it is called treason.

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness is not in the Constitution. It is in the Declaration of Independence, so actually only some rights existed until the Bill of Rights were passed.

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness was the euphemism however it pertained to only a few. Not Blacks, women, or even early voting if you did not own land!

It is a work in progress that for 8 years went the wrong way. A few in this country believe only the wealthy owns this country. That is not what the Constitution says!

The government has a lot of authority to take your rights away. Especially since 9//11 / the Bush administration.

If they think that you are a terrorist then they can lock you up for years without trial, deny you the right to a jury trial, and they can keep most of the evidence against you secret so that your lawyers (who can be appointed by the prosecution) can't even defend against it.

They can also take away your first and fourth amendment rights, and can prohibit you from voting, they can also significantly hamper your second amendment rights.
