here is my situation, i was extremely tired and went into my local convenience store to buy cigarettes, i accidentally asked for my regular brand. after i paid for the cigs and other items, the clerk put them in a bag, before leaving the counter, i reached into the bag and took out the cigs and then realized my mistake, i had meant to ask for the brand that is on sale, when i asked if i could get a refund and buy the cheaper brand instead. the clerk told me that it is against wa state law to refund or exchange cigs. i went to wa state's web site and can not find info on this. has anyone heard of such a law in the state of Washington?

It's kind of like buying food and returning it...or buying aspirin and returning it. They can't put it back on the shelf in case you might have done something to it.
Of course...you hadn't even left the store yet. So I think it was just the fact that the clerk was just being difficult. Next time you go in give him a hard time...take five minutes to decide whether or not you want to buy a lighter...."But this color is so much more vibrant!" or "Oh I don't know which brand of smokes I want! Fiddle sticks!"
At least...that's what I'd do. You may be a nicer person than I. |
