I think that euthanasia is acceptable in any terminal illness or severely paralytic case. ONLY if the person in question desires it. ONLY if there is a waiting period where the person has to actually make their own arrangements and seriously have time to consider the decision.
It is true that pain can be managed, and people can be made clean and comfortable, but you have to be able to afford that. Unfortunately, it is a crime to rescue someone from pain.
The DEA has new regulations that mean that chronic pain sufferers have to be taken off their pain medications and be restored to baseline every so often. This means that people who truly suffer are made to "rehab" occasionally. This includes elderly and terminally ill people.
I hope that euthanasia eventually becomes legal. I'm more afraid of being in this poor man's predicament than of dying. |

Well euthanasia is assisted suicide.
If the man wants assistance to take his life that is acceptable to me.
If anyone else is making the choice then that is murder and unnacceptable to me. |

If it is what HE wants then fair enough. But no one, absolutely no one has the right to decide if someone else's life is worth living. I have worked in nursing homes for many years & cared for many people who's quality of life would be deemed unacceptable by others. Pain can be managed, people can be kept clean, nourished & comfortable. If that person is happy & believe me many people are despite their difficulties then that life should be resepected. |

if DNRs are legal, euthanasia should be as well. |

if hes mentally able to decide for himself, let him decide for himself. you shouldnt kill someone unwillingly if they know about it. its murder. |

If this man wants to die, then i think it is right. it's his body and soul and should choose whether he wants to live or not. Putting people out of their pain isn't a crime |

?

I think Euthanasia should only be discussed by/with the person it directly relates to. |

If that is what he wants I do not believe anyone has the right
to say its wrong.I am all for euthansia & believe eventually it will be legal. |

If the man is perfectly capable of making his won mind up and being able to communicate it somehow, then I expect if he wants to die it is up to him. I dont know if I would want to live like that. |

If he is mentally capable then he should make the decision, but if it was me I wouldn't want to live like that |

It is all about quality of life. To stay alive and live is not quality of life. If it was me, I would want to die. |

I think euthanasia is acceptable in this instance. |

I think it's right. If that's what he wants then that's what he should have. He's not really got a life anyway. |

if thats what he wants then yes its fine, i wouldnt want to live in his condition, who would? |
|

Everyday's the same again...
|
does he want to die? if so - it should be his choice; it should not be the choice of family, doctors or lawyers. |

If there is a God then....................... yes, perfectly acceptable. |

nope, it would not be right. That is a sad case but once you start this where do you draw the line?
Besides, I don't know what institution he is in but his carers will probably get bored and starve him to death eventually. That ( shamefully enough ) is normally what happens. |

If he is "perfectly mentally capable" I would say no, it's not acceptable. Is this something the man wants?? |
