Who would be responsible for this?
Find answers to your legal question.

Who would be responsible for this?

Imagine you're at a stop light. You're at the front. You suddenly see a firetruck coming up behind you with it's lights and siren on. The light is suppose to change, but it stays red. There's no room for you to pull over, but if you stay where you are, you'll be blocking the way.

As the firetruck gets closer, you notice that the driver motions for you to go through the light regardless of it being red. As you go through the light, a car crosses the intersection and ends up hitting you, damaging your car.

What happens now?

You get a ticket for being an at-fault driver, and are responsible for the damages you caused. Do you really think you are supposed to run a red light into an intersection with a car coming?

Fire truck's fault since he was the one telling you to move... although you should get a good lawyer if this situation was real

My first instincts want to say that you are at fault since you did run a red light. Even though an emergency vehicle was coming and someone motioned you, the law won't see it your way. I would suggest that you call your local law school or something called "Legal Aid." If you can't find their phone number a law school in your area may be able to tell you how you can get in touch with Legal Aid. This is a free service in your area if it is offered and someone will talk to you. You will be able to explain your situation to them and ask what they suggest. Good luck with everything!

You still have a duty to look to make sure the intersection is clear. You are unlikely to get a ticket since you were given an order by the fire truck for you to go through.

The City would be responsible. I was wondering, if you got hit, didn't the firetruck hit something too?

I think the driver that was driving should have seen both ways of the street before going

Yeah you're at fault from an insurance perspective, though they may not increase your premium as you were not technically driving negligently.

ashh =]
technically your at0fault, but depending on the person who hit you and the cops who get involved, you may or may not get cited, it all just depends on the people, but by the book, your at-fault, the firetruck has the right to go in the next lane, even if it's for traffic going in the opposite direction.
