Why can't Miss California be entitled to her own opinion?

So what; she doesn't believe in gay marriage. That means she can't win. I thought America was a free country. But it's apparent that you must say, and think whatever is PC or your blacklisted. Just the fact that she had the balls to stick to her beliefs, instead of spewing out what people wanted to hear, makes me think she should have won. America: Losing more and more freedom everyday!

I'm not because she lost, and I never said I share her opinion. What worries me is WHY she lost. She had an opinion, and because it wasn't PC, she was blackballed. The constitution doesn't say anything about beauty pagents, but it says something about freedom of speech, and freedom of beliefs. However, it feels like those who don't agree with left-wing mass-media, are losing a little more of those rights each day. No you won't go to jail for expressing your opinion on TV, or in the press, but be prepared to shunned or forever have a negative stigma attached to your name. If you didn't vote for Obama, you're a racist. If you don't support gay marriage, then you are an ignorant moron. If you for the right to bear arms then you're a redneck hick. It worries me that a lot of people deep down share Miss Californias opinion, but were too SCARED to admit it. That doesn't sound like America to me. Sounds a little Nazish.

She wasn't jailed for her beliefs, she's just wrong. Like you. Free speech doesn't mean you aren't responsible for the things that you say. It just means that the government won't stop you from saying them. Was she censored by the FCC?

EDIT: Okay, I see where you're getting confused. Everyone has free speech, not just people who agree with you. So she freely expressed her opinion, and several other people freely expressed theirs. Free speech won!

There is no constitutional protection against people thinking less of you if you say something stupid, as Miss California just found out. Nor should there be. Who wants the government controlling what we think?

She is, but she was too stupid to know what they are looking for in a beauty paegant. They dont want your opinion when they ask you those questions (all are usually controversial) they want you to give the answer that says the most neutral and "go america!" as possible, and is seamless in execution.

She is entitled to her opinion, and the Miss USA people were entitled to not choose her because of her opinion, if that is what happened. She doesn't have a constitutional right to be Miss USA, after all. Nobody said having an opinion or expressing that opinion where you know it will be unpopular would be completely without consequences, just that you have a right to have and express it.
