I agree with you. Abortion is murder. Period. The problem is the law. Do you really think women would have abortions if they knew they would be prosecuted on murder charges? Of course not. We need a lot of our laws to be more straightforward. Like drunk driving, if, and this is purely an example of how to drive home to people that a certain behavior is unacceptable, people were shot dead on the side of the road by police after being pulled over and failing field sobriety tests and portable breathalyzers, people wouldn't drink and drive anymore.

that depends how you look at the issue, there are certain times i think an abortion is the right answer, rape, life threatining instances. people should,nt have to choose that but at times its necessaery

I think it comes down to the fact that pro choicers define life differently than you do.
If you belive that life starts at conception than abortion is murder.
Many think that life begins at birth when a baby has a larger degree of autonomy than he does in the womb.
I think Pro choicers also value the mother's life more than that of the fetus.

I mostly agree - I am still stuck on the incest and when giving birth could kill the mother - I am still weighing that with my own conscious. But it all comes down the the legal terminology. Sometimes the power of words just amazes me.

we need to treat things equally. people want to single out the people that are pro-choice but we don't have a problem with people who are for capital punishment. why is okay to kill adults?

Because in my case it wouldn't be true. I would never want to see a woman have an abortion. I think it is morally wrong. But what's an equally passionate issue for me is the concept that the government should not be involved in a woman's moral decisions. I have similar feelings about the death penalty. On the one hand, some crimes are so heinous as to deserve the death penalty. On the other hand, our government has not demonstrated that it can administer the penalty in a fair and unarbitrary manner. So I remain overall opposed to the death penalty.

As with most issues, there are rarely simple, one sided answers.

I am a person with pro-life ideology, but it doesn't work when BOTH partners are not in agreement in what they should do for a pregnancy that is not wanted and unexpected. I do not hold religion for support for my ideology because if one looks at religion, they seem to be more screwed up than those who want an abortion! As with everything these days, not everyone can live up to your standards and if that is a problem for you, then go on your merry way and think what you want about murder. In fact, our country STILL has not defined when life actually starts. We know when it ends but not when it starts. Weird huh?

Its not really a good PR move to start admitting that yes they are Pro-Murder.They might have trouble winning people over to their side to what is already a very complex and NOT black and white issue.

Here's my view on Abortion......

You decide if I'm pro-murder........

1. A Woman should not be foreced to concieve a child that is the result of a Rape.......

2. A women should not be forced to carry a child to full term if there is any real danger to her health (this happens quite a bit)

3. I do believe late term abortions should not be allowed unless my 1 & 2 answers are involved. Giving a reason like " I can't do all the things I did before I was pregant" does not seem right to me.

4. I see no point in taking Pro-Lifers seriously when most celebrate the Bombings of Abortion Clinics. Seems Hypocritcal to me when they feel that killing adults is okay, is that Pro-Murder???

So am I Pro-Murder?

Like many ethical dilemmas, abortion rights are matters of perspective, deserving more than a narrow, black and white discussion. Just as one can say that it is murder, I can easily say that preventing a womanâ€™s right to abortion is tyranny. Rhetoric has its canny way of polishing a biased argument.

I can justify being pro-choice through adhering to strong faith in personal liberty. Despite the sensitive nature of abortion, I find oppressing the freedom to choose far worse than terminating an unwanted or terminal pregnancy. The choice whether or not to have an abortion includes several tense and troubled emotions. I do not believe that abortion deserves to be a political issue but rather a private choice, made by a thoughtful and compassionate adult with the guidance of trained psychological and medical professionals.

When it comes to murder and abortion, like in the case of S. Peterson mentioned in the question, the argument gets entangled in value judgments. However, it is easy to buy into this faulty logic. Murder, malicious and criminal, has nothing to do with abortion. They are separate issues.

As for equal punishment, carrying the ghost or memory of an unborn child with you for the rest of your life is enough for any human being...

Although I encourage debate on controversy, I believe that those who self-righteously accuse others who allow abortion to turn their anger towards socially proactive problems. Focus on understanding the opposition, agree or disagree, and endorse policies that side with your point of view. Name-calling just bullies people into continuing pointless, unending disputes over matters that cannot be absolutely resolved.
