have you ever had a family member or friend who was addicted to drugs? if you had you wouldnt think the way you do. all drug users arent bad people. they shouldnt kill addicts, they should sentence them to a year of in-patient rehab. |

So if a person gets hooked on prescription pills because of an illness or injury should they be sentenced to death? Why is it that pedophiles, murderers and rapists are allowed to walk the streets? Drug USERS are not the ones that are causing pain to OTHERS, just to themselves! So why kill them? Why not just help them? |

So you gonna kill people for drinking? The amount of crime caused under the influence of alcohol is pretty high, Oh and by the way why don't you pull your head out of your (you get the idea) And imagine it from the other persons side, drug abuse is a hard thing to deal with / recover from. |

Well, I will probably get thumbs down for this, but there is this one drug addict that I know of who attempted to kill my friend and the police did little to nothing to him considering what he attempted. He is a scum bag who's wrap sheet is probably longer than any 3 people that answered this question, I believe he can't be rehabilitated and the only real way to rehabilitate him would be to put him 6 feet under. Before any of you say that is horrible, well why don't you try to change him, and then I will agree with you, but until that happens I will think the only way to make things better in this situation is to put him 6 feet underground. |

I will tell you my story and you tell me if I deserve to be put to death and if you think my kids would be better off. I am a 44 yr old from the Midwest who got caught up in meth and could not break free of it until I received treatment and found my faith in the Lord. I did not BURDEN society and have been clean for three years now. If you knew allitle more about people who are addicted and what they go thru you may not be so quick to call them (us) scumbags and definitely would not want us all put to death. Grow up and maybe do allitle research before you pass judgment on others. I am a great mom and my kids would attest to that and sure would not welcome any such laws like that in the USA. Yes there are people who rob and lie and all sorts of other things to get drugs but not all addicts are this way. |

Drug users can and often are young and easily led into stupid behavior. Some of those drug users you want to kill are as young as 9 and 10 years old. Boy they need to die don't they???
They are often young, misguided, lonely, hurt and foolish. Most of the older users were just plain ignorant of what was going to happen to them. What's your excuse? |

Sentencing drug users to death in other countries may be an appropriate solution but this is Australia, lets be realistic. Its the dealers and drug traffickers that need to have harsher sentences, and honestly if they wont bring back capital punishment for murderers etc they certainly are not going to put people to death for using drugs. I think this is more an issue of having more resources to help people who turn to drugs due to personal, mental or other issues.

Define drug. Should you die because you took some tylenol? Should someone die because they smoked a little marijuana? no more so than someone that smoked tobacco or drank a beer. This is a ridiculous and poorly thought out notion.

That'd be called use of "Excessive force"
It's like how they have signs that say "Trespassers will be shot.", but in America you're not ACTUALLY allowed to shoot a trespasser. Yes, while it's technically "illegal" to trespass, sometimes it's not for harm to the owner. For example, kids cutting across a meadow to get to school aren't looking to HARM the owner of the property on which they are trespassing. So to shoot little kids would be a definite No-No. However, if the kids were to say, try to murder the owner of the property then it would probably be acceptable to use a gun in defense.
The point is...drug users don't deserve to die just for doing drugs...
