Why can not we punish the criminals on the spot ?

uh...we do punish criminals "on the spot". They officially become criminals when sentenced by a judge and begin cserinv sentences at that time.

If you are asking for increased use of the death penalty, the "spot" doesn't occur untill all appeals are exausted.

It often takes years to prove someone is guilty. Many people have been wrongfully accused, and some even put to the death penalty, who have been completely innocent. Have you any idea how much more innocent people would be killed if this happened?

What happens when someone who is being punished on the spot is innocent? Who will prevent the abuse of power? No, you can't do this because innocent people would be punished without reason, I guarantee it.

How would you stop the police ( I presume that's who you would have do the hanging) from becoming all powerful,and hanging people they just didn't like,or who wouldn't/couldn't pay a bribe not to be hanged?
Besides that,the idea is that everybody else knows that the guilty have been punished,it's supposed to act as a deterrent.
And also the innocent aren't punished.So we need trials,and they must be made public.

It is because the country and court system are run by idiots. Think of the right solution and then do the opposite. That is what this bunch of idiots do.

I know it is not the same as murder, but my friend got caught doing 106mph in a 60mph three months ago. It went to court yesterday and has been postponed until Jan 7th because they had no photographic or video evidence. What a complete waste of time and taxpayers money. I am not condoning what he did, but they should have known this before it went to court (they had three months). Run by idiots.

People who commit murder (even the boys who did Jamie Bulger cos they were old enough to know what they were doing), do not send them to prison. They should be left in a room with the relatives of the person who was murdered. That would sort things out.

Because they're not criminals until they're proven guilty. When they're apprehended, they're just "Suspects". The reason we apprehend them is because we "suspect" them of committing a crime. Here in America, you're innocent until proven guilty...no matter how heinous the situation is. We have a JUDICIAL system. You can't kill a criminal on the spot. You have to allow him or her the opportunity to represent him or herself in front of a jury of peers. If found guilty, THEN they can be punished. If we just punished people on the spot as you suggest, then we're no better than the so-called criminals we attempt to punish.

We have a justice system in place to help prevent vigilante justice... hanging on the spot... so to speak. Each person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. That is one of our constitutional rights. Not everything you see is what it appears and a thorough investigation is deserved not only by the accused but the victim. Vigilante justice will only increase crime and put everyone at risk.

What about criminals that commit minor offenses? Stealing an HDTV doesn't warrant being hung on the spot.

And without a trail prior to punishment, the system you are suggesting can be easily abused. For example, if I wanted to murder my enemy, but didn't want to do it myself, I would frame them in a convincing manner and let the "law" murder them for me. By the time the officials found out that the victim was not guilty, it would be too late and the innocent victim would already be dead.

the process of fair trial is as old as humanity, u cant judge that this man has no right to live on earth which is not anyone's farm or plot.
every one has right to live here and the problem is with government, only 40-50% of tax is paid to government, and if government is paid ful tax then your burden will surely reduced by half,

you are thinking of preventing money by killing instantly, but what if the same amount of money is used for their rehabilitation, education, and cure.

this work would be greatly appreciated by god, and if u think that the same person come in front of u as ur NETA, that u are mistaken, who the hell elect them,

the sole reason goes to education and work for every one.
