Because the liberals are terrified of us conservatives. They have awakened a sleeping tiger, and they're about to get bit on the behind.
Their first strike is to instantly label their "enemies" as extremists and potentially wacko so that, when any conservative speaks up for their rights, everyone's immediate reaction will be to be fearful of some violent reaction instead of listening to what they have to say.
