Why do I keep receiving emails telling me that I have won a great deal of money when I do not play lotteries?

Mark them as spam. Block their addresses. Thats about all you can do for now.

They are scam letters you are getting via email. The best thing to do is immediately delete them without responding to them. If you respond, the scammers know it is a good email address and will constantly hound you. You can go to the Secret Service's website (www.secretservice.gov) for information on "advance free fraud" (also known as 4-1-9 fraud) or you can go to the Federal Trade Commission website (www.ftc.gov) to report the spam from the scammers. Like I said the best thing to do is delete it and get on with life. You could also report the email as spam to your ISP and set your filters. If you have become a victim of this fraud (that is, you have actually lost money to these scammers) please contact your local US Secret Service office for guidance. I've noticed that other responses have stated that you might have filled something out, or by responding to the email, you may end up with even more spam. Although that's possible, many of the email addresses advance fraud schemes have been sent to have been wildcard lists (for lack of a better term). Basically every "@ISP.com" address that has "XYZ" in it will be hit. Then, anyone that responds provides a good address to the scammers. Remember the key: If you don't respond to them, they can't "get" you!

You're on a mailing list!!!!
No idea how to stop these other than blocking them. I checked on tps and mps but nothing that covers emails. can only find home numbers, mobiles number and post.

Spam is any message or posting, regardless of its content, that is sent to multiple recipients who haven't specifically requested the message. Spam can also be multiple postings of the same message to newsgroups or list servers that aren't related to the topic of the message. Other common terms for spam include junk mail, UCE (unsolicited commercial email), and UBE (unsolicited bulk email).

As per Yahoo Tutorials:
The most effective way to prevent spam from entering your BT Yahoo! Mail Inbox is to use SpamGuard Plus. The SpamGuard Plus utility includes filters that automatically send suspected spam to a special mail folder called Bulk. This folder is created the first time you receive a message that SpamGuard Plus identifies as junk mail.

Block addresses
Go to mail home page, click on options, click on block addresses and inout info there.

This is most likely a scam for one reason or another.

If they are asking for any money in any way at all then it is 99.99999999999999999999% likely a scam. You send your money and never hear anything again.

If they want you to reply to the e-mail but don't ask for any money then it is likely then they just want you to confirm that your e-mail address is valid and in use as this is worth more money when they sell e-mail address lists to spammers.

Unfortunately, anything you do to try and actively stop it will result in it happening more. Your only hope is a good spam-filter.

They are fishing for information such as your bank account number. Or, they are trying to get you to send them money. Just delete them. If one site in particular pops up often then block it.

You registred somewhere on-line and they sold your address to others, so now you are spammed. You can mark them as spam, that's all. Do not ever reply or try to click "unsubscribe" link - that will be a sign that your e-mail is working, and you will get even more.

Let me guess....They say you need to send some sort of processing fee, and send you a check to cover it.

This is a big scam, and too many people have fallen for it. The individual cashes the check, sends the money, then the check later comes back bad...and you are out the money.

The best you could hope to do is turn them over to your local authorities.

put them in your spam file.
Not sure who you use to access your email but most email programs have filters.
If you put LOTTERY in your filter all of your emails that have lottery in it will go to your spam box.
If that does not work, I know that it is annoying but just delete them! If you reply (even saying that you want them to remove you, they will get worse!)

Read up. There is an entire movement dedicated to trying to con people out of money/and/or personal information to use to steal as much as possible. YOu can report them to the FTC, your ISP, whatever, but I doubt it'll make any difference
