Why do intellectuals support yobs?
|
Why do intellectuals side with yobs against ordinary people on a whole number of issues, but particularly law and order ones? Does it seem cool to them? Are they snobs trying to appear the opposite? This line up seems even stranger when you think it's a very one-sided affair and if the yobs had their way, the intellectuals would all be in the gutter having their heads kicked in. Additional Details I agree with you, curios. Chop-logic Mr Jaggers figures are no problem, as they get plenty of money by defending yobs in the courts.
Your average Mail reader would probably class me as an intellectual rather than an 'ordinary person'. But we are talking in general terms.

They don't support them, they support an honest fair, system, the term yobs could be considered as something that shows you are against a group of people as opposed to listening to the individual |

Not intellectuals, Liberal do-gooders who more often than not will live on a splendid estate far removed from the Yobs. Most will probably change their tune should they or their family become victims. |

I don't - never have done - never will. On what statistics do you base your question? |
|

These sorts of questions, with their Daily Mail headline overtones are, with respect meaningless because the terms mean precisely what the questioner wants them to mean and nothing else.
In this instance:
"Yobs" = people I dislike and who have no defining characteristic other than being 'yobs'
"ordinary people" = me ('the questioner')
"intellectuals" = people who disagree with me.
So, the question is:
I am an ordinary person, I dislike yobs, therefore all 'ordinary people' dislike yobs; certain people disagree with me over how yobs should be treated, they are therefore by definition not 'ordinary people' and must be 'intellectuals' therefore intellectuals oppose ordinary pople and are therefore on the side of yobs.
Simple isn't it?
Well, it is if you're simple. |

I think the simple answer is, they don't. They stand up for universal rights for all of us, and argue against untenable proposals. It may seem like they are suporting yobs, but they're actually supporting everyone. |

I understand what u r saying but "yobs"
are not just working class.
see link

Bad behaviour by youngsters knows no class division - it may be done in a different way and covered up because their parents are in positions of power. So u dont have their kids exploits splashed across the papers so frequently.
Perhaps they dont want to introduce laws that would actually punish their kids as well! if caught.
The magistrates are not handing down the punishments that are fitting for all "yobs". |

Its that public school boy image they have, they think that yobs are the peasant class and havent a clue what they are really like as they have never had to suffer their behaviour. |

I think specialist and intellectuals are making too many excusess for younsters these days, and yobs( or animals as I call them) get away with murder:litterally.
It' s humiliating as many of us came from a difficult family, ignorante house hold, violence. But many of us are respectible people who are tring to be part of society by playng by the rules not against it. So don't give me the vicious circle. You can be a better person than the one you begin your life with, if you want it.
Parents, do need to give a little more tough love aand set an exemple or they'll end up sayng :do what i say don't do what i do. |

p.c gone mad again. what else can i say. give the yobs a tougher sentence and the parents a massive kick up the back side and maybe just maybe common sense will be restored |
